Open Source (or freeware) page layout tools?

So, I'm starting work on a new Knock on Wood book (entitled "Knock on Wood: 0% Recycled Content", and full of book-exclusive comics) and I'm looking for a good page layout program to get things... laid out. Unfortunately, as with any good comic artist, I am strapped for cash, and can't afford something like InDesign. So, I've decided to look around for some open source alternatives. Any recommendations?

"Damn it, Jim, that's a web design program, not a desktop publishing app!"

Haha, sry. You said page layout. For some reason I wasn't thinking the layout of the comic page, just the layout of a web page. I didn't thouroughly read your four sentence request  . I rushed to conclusions.

Thanks for the tip on Scribus. I tried using it, but in its current state for Mac OS X, it's kinda unwieldy.

Any other suggestions? Pleeeeease? Anyone?

The program called "Draw" pretty much does the same thing. It's not that great, but I've used it before.

Not what Lukee was after, but this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! This proves it - looking through previous topics before posting your own DOES work!

Thanks, Gigatwo. You're my hero, and you didn't even know it. *grin*
