I just bought Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. I've only played F1 though and it is pretty annoying at some points. No autosave = ):<

Also, I don't know if it is considered "old" but Rome: Total War (2002) is such fun. I love it!

CoD1 is still, imo, the greatest CoD game. Even now you can find dedicated online servers for it.

What's the difference between Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactic?
I only played the 2 and I want to know if the Tactic (( or even the one ) is worth it.

Yeah, no autosave is annoying and I hate rpg-combat

I just finished Sega's Shining Force for the Genesis Emulator and I think that I will go on and play Shining Force II.

Since I don't have a new generation console (yet) I do play a lot of emulators (Genesis, SNES and Arcade).

My favorite old school games are

1.- Super Street Fighter II
2.- Megaman X Trilogy
3.- Chrono Trigger
4.- Final Fantasy III
5.- Donkey Kong Country
6.- Mortal Kombat II
7.- Super Mario World
8.- WWF Raw
9.- Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
10.- Killer Instinct

As my avatar implies, the original DOOM series by John Carmack and American McGee are among my favorite old-school games. Then there's also the original Quake (the very first one for the PC).

Other games I also grew up playing:

1). Sim City (both the original and 2000)
2). Chrono Trigger (one of the best RPG's ever)
3). Metal Gear (original for the NES)
4). Earthbound (or "Mother 2" if you want to get technical about it).
5). Killer Instinct (Spinal for the win).
6). Metroid I & II (for the NES and Gameboy respectively)
7). The original Time Crisis (back when the franchise first appeared in arcades. I wasted so much money playing those).
8). Mega Man's 1-5 (NES)
9). Command & Conquer: Red Alert (the first one for the PC).
10). Super Mario World (spent a good chunk of my childhood unlocking every secret in the game).

YES!

Well, from my experience playing the games ON systems, AND on emulators...(This list isn't in order, but in the order I think of them)

1.) Battletoads in Battlemaniacs - SNES (My avatar is from that game. I didn't care for BT&DD)
2.) Donkey Kong Country 2 - SNES (in my opinion, one of the best games of all time. The music, levels, all that just mix together perfectly)
3.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time - SNES (I'm pretty sure it's the 4th one. But c'mon, this game is amazing)

Uh oh...I can't think of any other ones, besides the Biker Mice from Mars racing game that they had for the SNES.

Fulgore is just way cooler than all the other characters in that game.

yeah, rpg combat is annoying.

and I just bought this pack which had Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics for 15 bucks so I am guessing I got cheated out of $5 or they are different games.

I've checked on the internet, and apparently, they all look pretty much the same.
They're different games, but I see no differences in the graphics or gameplay. Maybe someone who has played those could... help :D

yeah, the screenshots on the back of the box i bought could definately've been from the same game. They weren't, but it looked like it.

"Unlike the previous two Fallout games, Fallout Tactics emphasizes tactical combat and strategy. Players are not able to respond to non-player characters, but they can still trade and gamble. Instead of towns, Fallout Tactics centers around Brotherhood bunkers and missions. The bunkers serve as a central point for the Brotherhood, and players can obtain the services of quartermasters, mechanics, personnel yeomen, and medics. Characters from completed missions occasionally visit the bunkers.

After receiving a mission briefing from the general in charge of the bunker, the player's squad can then move to the area where the mission will take place. Among these locations are towns, factories, military encampments, or even a Vault. There, the player is given a map of the area marked with objectives and notes.

Unlike the previous two Fallout games which featured an individual turn-based system, combat in Fallout Tactics operates differently. Fallout Tactics features three modes of combat: Continuous Turn-Based (CTB ), Individual Turn-Based (ITB ), and Squad Turn-Based (STB ). In CTB, everyone can act at the same time, and action points are regenerated at a rate based on the Agility stat. ITB is the system used in the original games. STB is a variation of that; each turn is given to a squad. Other changes include the ability to change stance, modifiers for height, and setting sentry modes which let characters shoot automatically in CTB upon encountering an enemy."

The world and overall design is apparently different enough to give canon whores enough reason to empty tears aswell. Never played it, myself.

I don't know how old constitutes "old" but here goes:

Homeworld 1 and 2 (PC)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (PS1)
Cybernator (SNES)
Ranger X (Sega Genesis)
Harvest Moon (PS1)

There may be more, but that list is pretty awesome!

Fallout Tactics is pretty radically different from any of the other Fallout games. Not in a bad way, mind you, just different (it was the first Fallout game I ever played, so I'm a little biased).

As long as we're talking about classic games, what about NBA Jam: TE? The best basketball game ever made, in my book.

I wasted so much money playing those).

I doubt that money was wasted since you were having a lot of fun with it.

My personal favorites are...

Konami Wai Wai World (Konami Man and Konami Lady go out and rescue other characters in Konami's character stable and save the Konamiverse... I think).

Silent Hill for the PSX. That game scares me witless...

Metal Slug. I love old run and gun games.

Contra for the same reason as Metal Slug.

Metal Marines for the PC. It was an RTS... a slow one, but it was fun watching missiles flying all over your computer screen. :)

Lifeforce for the NES.

Shining Force 1 & 2 - Those game are a bit simple but well balanced, challenging and highly enjoyable SRPGs.

Playing wit ma Dreamcast I just got. Jet set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Phantasy Star Online, and Fatal fury: Mark of the wolves are all games I've gotten a fair share of playtime out of recently. On that note, JSR is very good in every regard except one: the control is horrible. You character will often magnetically attach to rails when you don't want them to, and they often overcorrect your jump for you, leading your landing from the side of a railing to 10 feet over the ledge. The system has otherwise been enjoyable.

I've been playing a lot of the old PSX RPG's lately. Wild ARMs 1&2, Final Fantasy 7-9, Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Saga Frontier, Vagrant Story, Suikoden, and so on and so forth.

That right there be the golden age of RPGs.
99% of people would've finished this sente

No, that's Shining Force 2 and 3.
Shining Force 1 was very different. It was for the Sega Master system and you spent most of your time crawling around in a dungeon/mine/catacomb- all first person perspective, but not 3D, just a flat painted thing... And when you went into the shops or the tavern or whatever you just clicked the arrow to change which flat scene you were looking at in there to talk to a different guy etc.
There was only one town and it was at the entrance to the mine thing (I think), you had to keep going back there to get more stuff.

I've only played in on an emulator and that was years ago, but it was a very repetitive little dungeon crawler. Not like the fun strategy fights in 2 and 3. I loved those ^_^

Actually, I belive that was sold, at least in America, as "Shining in the Darkness", with the strategy games sold as "Shining Force" and "Shining Force 2".

Inkmonkey is correct. (Thank you Inkmonkey.) Ozone if you get the chance try and find the hand held remake of Shining Force. They added some cool extras and made the story more clear as well as adding a game plus function.
