So I used the money from my tax return that wasn't predesignated for catching up on bills deemed "fun money" to buy a PS3. There still aren't too many games out that I want, but this year looks like it's going to be a good one and if I didn't buy it now I wouldn't till my next tax return (maybe)

I got Snakeball, and it is awesome. And as soon as I beat the five PS2 games I have waiting to be beat I think I'ma rent Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden.

kingofsnake13 is my player name. Expect to shortly see me topping the Snakeball charts.

I've been noticing a lot of people buying PS3's lately... But yeah, Uncharted is pretty much the top game I recommend for the PS3 (at the moment).

Also, pre-order MGS4 during April so you can get access to the free MGS:O beta.

You should probably look into Super Stardust HD, as well, as long as you're getting games off of PSN, anyway. A lot of people seem to like PixelJunk Monsters, too, but I've never played it, myself. I believe it is one of those tower defense games.

I have pixeljunk monsters too, I played it for the first time really last night. It's alright. I'm a big fan of tower defense games, though so I've got alot to compare it to. I can't really give a solid opinion on it till I've unlocked all the towers and such. Tower Defense only really gets fun when you're up against ridiculous odds. And I'm still working my way up through medium levels, so I'm not there yet.

I've seen gameplay for Super Stardust HD, it's that one that's like asteroids. It's not really my cup of tea.

I think one of the reasons people are starting to pick up PS3's is that 2008 looks to be the first good year for playstation. Blue-ray's been declared the "winner" of the format wars, and the game library is finally going to make it worthwhile buy the end of '08. I found the Wii fun but gimicky, and I don't like FPS so there really isn't much else for me on the XBOX360 that isn't cross platform anyway, so really the PS3 was the only choice to me, it was just a matter of when. Theres no way I could've justified it any sooner than now.

fern - I'll look for you when I'm online, it's pretty sporadic right now.

This does seem like the year for the PS3 to stabilize. I'm kind of waiting for Little Big Planet before I get one, because any other game I'm interested in is also on the Xbox360 or PC.

As soon as GTA4 is released I'm jumping on the PS3 train as well. :)

It looks like Asteroids and has asteroids in it, but doesn't really play like asteroids. If anything, the gameplay reminds me more of Smash TV if that game had used two analog sticks instead of digital. I guess it really depends on how much you like 2D shooters that throw a bunch of crap at you.

Heh, I NEVER rent anything. I have Uncharted sitting in a pile of about ten other games I've barely played so far. What I HAVE played of it was excellent, though like I said I've barely played it.

You've said you don't like FPS's, but I'd STILL recommend getting CoD4 and Resistance. I love 'em both, and I'm not that big a fan of FPS's either. I enjoy the hell out of Folklore, but it seems to have gotten mediocre reviews. If you don't have Oblivion for anything else, get it now. A lot of people also say that Ratchet & Clank is excellent, and the demo agrees.

Other than that, download demos. LOTS of demos. They're free, and they'll help you decide what games you want before buying them. That's how I decided to get most of my games, and it really payed off. I dont' have ANY games that I didn't enjoy what I've played of them (Though like I said, I haven't played much of most of them), all thanks to demos.

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY DEMO

Huh, I didn't know about all that. I'll have to preorder it then (if I have money at that point) instead of just waiting until a few months after it's out and buying it when there's nothing else I want. Normal MGS4 doesn't interest me much, but MGS:O looks like it'll be AWESOME.

I certainly don't have the disposable income to buy every game I want to play. Especially when I know that after I beat it I'll probably never play it again.

When I DO buy games there things like Hot Shots golf or Katamari, games that are less goal oriented and more fun to play in and of themselves.

*Shrug* I just prefer to buy my games. I'd rather have them later in case I want to play them. And if I DON'T, I can always trade with a friend at some point.
