Why don't you three take it outside or something? Or I'll go tell mommy, and she'll spank you.

And that video proves what exactly, beyond that Nintendo isn't working on anything new? Same spiel, though. Arranged interviews tend to be full of the same BS as press events and that interview was definitely swimming in it. A lot of roundabout ways of saying "no we're not working on that." I also like the little tidbit about the Mario and Sonic fencing minigame in response to one-on-one sword fighting. Videos like that one and every one you've posted are made to sucker people like you into buying a product. Even Miyamoto isn't above stretching the truth or outright telling lies to make sure he continues to get a paycheck. Do you honestly believe everything you see in commercials on TV, as well?

It depends on the commercial and how convincing it is.
That's quite unfortunate, especially considering both of those commercials horribly misrepresent their products. Hell, in the Wii one, I even see a couple of shots where the controller motions aren't even correct for the games they're playing. I guess you really are the kind of consumer Nintendo is looking for. Gullible.

Really? Which games? Because all the ones I was familiar with the motions were exaggerated, but matched the games. Or are you just arguing for the sake of being difficult at this point?

The problem is that some of the games shown aren't designed to work with the exaggerated motions you see. For instance, the controls in Wii Boxing don't work very well when you actually try to mimic boxing moves. The controls are designed to register an arcing motion, which you don't perform while boxing, resulting in misses half of the time if you try to mimic boxing moves. Flicking the controller forward like swinging a hammer works much better than actually punching making the game play more like Rock'em Sock'em Robots than actual boxing. You also get some issues with the Red Steel video where the guy is making motions which don't reflect the actual gameplay (like parrying with both the wii-mote and nunchuck) to make sword fighting look more exciting.

Okay, so suddenly Genstru is gullible because the motions that are not optimized for gameplay are shown in the commercial?
I guess that's what's bothering me. I mean, yeah, Nintendo's exaggerating things to make their system look better. But to basically insult someone's intelligence by the fact that they think the commercial is better than a Halo one that doesn't show any gameplay is just... petty.

I didn't say anything about the Halo commercial. Quite honestly, since all he did was post two ads and say nothing about either, I thought he was saying they were both convincing for him. I didn't want to even go into the Halo 3 ad since it follows Microsoft's typical tactic of "lets not show the game" that they seem to have adopted ever since Gears of War hit.
If I'm insulting his intelligence, it's not due to any comparison between those videos, it's due to his naivety in believing that Nintendo is somehow above being a business. Saying "the wii is innovative because Nintendo said so" isn't the best argument one can make, but that's pretty much what zgenstru's been pushing thus far. Sorry if I'm a bit more skeptical about these things, but I simply don't take all corporate BS as fact. All companies exaggerate and lie to make their systems look better, Nintendo is no exception. If you buy into it without thinking for yourself, then yes, you are gullible.
I'll agree on the bit about the car, though.

Well, I can understand a bit more of your argument when comparing it to all of Genstru's posts; he seems a bit too trusting for his own good. I guess I was just bothered because I got the impression that you were saying something along the lines of: "You expect a game to work the way it does in a commercial? Boy, are you a sucker."
Either way, as someone who quite happily owns a Wii, I'm still a bit miffed at the impression that Nintendo fans are somehow gullible. I don't doubt that Nintendo likes fans who would buy anything they shell out and don't care at all about the quality of their product, but then again, I sure wouldn't mind if people threw money at me for eating toast. There has been no wool pulled over my eyes. I know about all the apparently system-ruining technical limitations of the system, and I'm not a fool for not thinking its such a big deal.

I call it how I see it. I'll admit, not EVERY fan is like that, but zgenstru thus far has proven to be very much like the typical Nintendo fan that I normally see online. The kind that honestly believes that Nintendo is somehow the only company out there that has no interest whatsoever in making money and only cares about making people happy. That they invented gaming and every genre is a product of Nintendo. That they never lie, stretch the truth, or mislead the public just to make a buck. That every game they make, no matter how derivative, is solid gold and the most innovative thing to ever grace this planet. These are the kinds of fans who are quick to post videos bashing other systems when their system is faced with criticism. The kind who can't understand why someone wouldn't take an interview with Miyamoto on a system whose sales provide him with a paycheck as 100% fact. The kind who see every new controller shell or gadget out of the company to be the next evolution in gaming.
Quite honestly, I don't think that description fits you. There is a difference between recognizing the BS, being able to look past the hype and still enjoy a product and accepting everything a company says as gospel simply because they said it. The second kind of consumer is the kind any manufacturer would want on their side.

Honestly Isukun, I would dislike that kind of fan too. Liking a certain think out of sheer ignorance and refusal to try anything else is how I would define "fanboy". The tough part is that it's hard to tell who likes Nintendo out of ignorance and who likes Nintendo because its games resonate with them. If you can see that some people have perfectly good reasons to like Nintendo then you're not so biased as I imagined.

I wasn't really bashing, but really more critisizing Sony, saying how some of their ads can be overrated and that they never really did anything new with their product. True I may not respect Sony as much as I did in 2nd grade but,I still respect them a lttle bit for the Kingdom Hearts games ( which were actually very fun back then). But I guess I did get a bit too defensive over the whole " Nintendo is more innovative than Sony" thing but, I sort of thought you were one bashing Nintendo, afterall you did start this " Nintendo lacks any innovation whatsover" argument.
Anyway I hope clears up a few accusations. =P

Um... you do know that the commercial you posted was for a Microsoft game, right? And I'm pretty sure Sony didn't have anything to do with the Kingdom Hearts game aside from providing a system by which to play it on a TV. That was all Square.
