Marvel Animation is doing their 5th direct-to-video movie on Sep. 2, Next Avengers . This acts as a sequal to both Ultimate Avengers flicks, and The Invincible Iron-Man, although everyone except Iron-Munch and a Maestro-looking Hulk gets killed off by Ultron, and now these next gen kids are trying to fill in for their parents. It's Thor's butch-ass daughter, Capt. America & Black Widow's son, Black Panther Jr., and Hawkeye's son, which is kinda retarded cause they never even showed Hawkeye in any of the movies.

How the fuck do you kill of Thor? He's a fucking god! This looks like it was originally concieved as a Young Avengers movie, but then they realized that the comic itself wasn't doing too hot, so revamped it into an Infinity Inc. ripoff. Hawkeye should've at least been given his own animated film. He's an obscure enough character like Dr. Strange that he could have made it in his own made-for-video solo cartoon. That's what the Marvel Animation stuff should be is someplace for characters who have very little chance of getting there own live-action movie. Then again, they are making an Ant-Man movie.

I don't know much about the comics but in mythology Thor was killed off during Gotterdammerung or Ragnarok. :)

As for how you can kill him in the comics, I read somewhere that it's not really Thor but a human avatar of him... So that gives em a way to do it. ^_^

I never, ever, ever liked that "kids filling in for parents" crap in cartoons though. Never. I hated that when I was a kid; watching stroppy teenage versions of much loved characters. JEBUS! From my point of view That wasn't what I wanted to see: kids being superheroes is a stupid idea that some suit thought would appeal to a younger generation and make the franchises more relevant.
Yeah... well it never worked with me, in fact that did more to make me hate superhero cartoons than anything else back then.

Are there any kids who prefer dumb teenage versions over the originals?

-as an adult, I couldn't care less, if I'm honest. It doesn't matter so much. It doesn't interest me either way in the cartoons.

Dr. Strange IS getting a live action movie, with Neil Gaiman writing and Guillermo Del Toro directing, no less.

I doubt he'll be doing that movie anytime soon. Unless he is feeling extremely productive Guillermo Del Toro is gonna be busy with "The Hobbit" for a loooong time.

It doesn't matter how soon the movie comes, out, it doesn't change my point that it is being made. Marvel's been pitching the idea since before the animated film was even announced and they still have every intention of seeing it made. Besides, Del Toro is working on other projects parallel to the Hobbit, and there has been talk that if they get the script done soon enough, they may be able to finish filming before he leaves for New Zealand.

Just got the Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes(the 4th animated series)box set, and thought that the animation and character designs were pretty good. Alot better than what they had in the previous 4 Marvel Animated movies. Too bad Cartoon Network just totally gave up on it.

The first time I heard about this, I was so excited. I thought "Ooh, a Young Avengers movie! Sure it might be under a different name, but at least it isn't one of stupid next gen things!"

...yeah. They shouda done a Power Pack movie instead.

And as an aside to ozoneocean, when there are teenage adaptations that go beyond "this is teen Thor and teen Iron Man", it can be pretty cool. I've enjoyed the Young Avengers because it's about kids who are inspired by the Avengers, but aren't just teen ripoffs. They are their own characters. This is sadly rare.

Why don't they just to a Marvel "teen team" thing. Take a bunch of teenage heroes from Marvel and put them in one team. Spider-Man(Ultimate, maybe), Human Torch, Shadowcat, etc. Try to only have 2 or 3 X-dudes though.

Thor's greatest weakness: snake bites.

Well, it's better than that one god who got killed by mistletoe. lol!

That might be fun.

Or maybe Marvel should do a parody of itself with a bunch of kid versions of their heroes. Each hero somewhere maybe 8 to 15 years old.

....well, just saying.

Saw it the other day. Apparently, its not a DIRECT sequal to Utlimate Avengers 1 & 2. Mainly due to alot of inconsistancies. One is that all the Avengers are wearing their classic uniforms when shown in any flashback scene, and not the Ultimates ones. Cap has his wings, and Giant Man has his antennas. Another is Giant Man & Wasp's son, Pym, who is the youngest one of the group. Giant Man dies at the end of UA2, so the only way that Wasp would've had his child is if she was pregnant before he died, which would if it did happen would make Pym older than the other Jr. Avengers. Two of the characters were actually derived from the Avengers Next/Spider-Girl comics. Torunn was based on Thena, and Azari on Coal Tiger. They don't even mention SHIELD in this at all, who if there was a rampaging robot like Ultron going around taking over the planet, you'd think they'd go all GI Joe on him. Apparently no other heroes exist in this version of Marvel's Earth either, otherwise I can't believe that the Fan 4, Spidey, Dr. Strange, X-Men, or even Punisher would just be taking a breather while the world gets turned into the Matrix. The main bonus features on this are a look at some of the Marvel comics for kids, which is actually kind of nice. There's also a first look at the upcoming Hulk Vs. Thor and Hulk Vs. Wolverine animated movies.

I have been a Marvel fan since I was a kid,But I am not the BIGGEST fan, but, this stuff just Irritates me.
Why not put effort into an animated verson of Thanos Quest or something.

The Hulk Vs. Wolverine feature on the Hulk Vs. DVD is supposed to be connected to the new Wolverine & The X-Men animated series coming out next year, because their fight continues in one of the episodes titled "Wolverine Vs. Hulk". Dunno if the Hulk Vs. Thor bit has any connection to that at all. It actually has a different animation crew behind it for the double-feature DVD.

Blame it on this generation. They're mostly filled with retarded anime loving ninnys who eat this shit up like theres no tomorrow. If Marvel made something like this about twenty years ago people would have stepped back and asked what the fuck they were thinking.

Times are a changin', and them kids like their animu so much that american animation needs to emulate it if it hopes to sell.

fart

I'm not so sure if it was anime influenced. The certainly didn't try to emmulate the Teen Titans animated series.
