It is. It really is.

And this place was WAY more of a rock landmark than Graceland or Strawberry Fields or that fake-ass Rock & Roll Hall of Fame up in Cleveland. Back in the 1970s, this place was the real deal.

I've been to NYC twice, but I never got around to seeing it. And now I never will...

I never got to see Rodney Dangerfield perform live.

This saddens me greatly.

For the record, I hated CBGBs - the staff was rude, and many of the people that frequented it, when I've gone, were elitest. I'm not going to say I'm sad it's gone. Neither am I happy about it. But it wasn't all that awesome. There are far cooler clubs, with far nicer staff. True it was a landmark and all of that, but that doesn't make it awesome. At least, in my experience.

I've never heard of CBGB's.

Although I found this line funny:

I've been hearing about them closing that down for AGES. Given the high profile people they had supporting it I'm surprised they couldn't save it. What happened?

But then nothing is permanent... What's important is remembering what happened there, not so much the place itself.
