hi...i'm new to doing comics for the web and i have a lot of ideas that i want to try...
i have a few questions though, that maybe somebody could help me with?
what's the best program to color my comics in once they are scanned? I have both Photoshop and Illustrator CS2.
what is the best format to save them in when it's time to upload them on to Drunk Duck?
what is the best size to make the comics at to do so?
thanks

- Coloring depends on your style. If you do a lot of flat colors or cell shading, Illustrator might be better for you. If you do a lot of smooth shading or digital painting, Photoshop is going to work better. Illustrator also has the advantage of being vector, so things are easier to resize.
- I would suggest .jpg or .png.
- Size isn't too important on the web. Just make sure that your pages aren't so huge that people have to scroll all over the screen to view them. If people need to scroll, it's better to have to scroll vertically (up and down) than horizontally, though. It's also best if you can keep your file sizes under 500k so that people don't have to spend forever downloading a single page.
If you're planning to print at some point, you may want to stick to a ratio that would easily fit into a book format (and remember to work at print resolution, as well).

Actually you can do it all in photoshop alon. I some times use illustrator for clean up or morphing words and other programs for the type of effects that I want.

Its a good idea to "play" around to find whatever works for you the best. Especially if you're new to doing art or comic digitally. Dont limit yourself to one program or one style, explore!
There isnt exactly a "best" program. Lots of programs have something each that appeals to diffrent people. Which is why I said you should expirement and determine if you want to work with just one or use both. Use .jpg or .png. Those are the best format and many sites will accept it.
Have fun. :)

I generally use Photoshop. It has many cool features and you can do just about anything! I have a special program for my comic tho, Manga Studio 3.0 (I would only recommend that if you are reallly serious about your comic, and are experienced! Cuz Manga Studio is kinda confusing at first and expensive! ) I try to keep my page size at 600 x 800. I really recommend jpg.
