ShadowDion made a great suggestion in another topic... To start a story that continues on and on by each post.

No-one else seems to have started one, so here goes; (with apologies to Professor Quackers)

It was a calm, moonlit night when Quackers decided he had had enough of his tiny, but luxurious, cardboard box.
He had had a good life, plenty of food and drink, even a friendly, if fast quail for a companion...
But as he sat, observing the light of the moon slanting through the open window, he felt restless.
The moon grew larger in his mind, beckoning... calling...
There was a whole world out there, beyond his box. A world of adventure, freedom, excitement...
His blood began to boil in his veins.
Suddenly, with a surge of adrenalin, Quackers lunged to his feet. He would do it!
He half flapped, half jumped to the window ledge.
A moment of doubt assailed his mind... he almost turned back then, back to his secure, cardboard world.
For a moment he hesitated, unsure and scared of the enormity of the world before him.
While he stood, frozen in time and indecision, his companion and friend, the Quail, Mark5, woke from a fretful sleep and saw Quackers outlined against the moon for a moment.
Then, with a glorious spread of his clipped wings, the duck dropped out of sight. In a flash, Mark5 was on the ledge, just in time to see Quackers crash into a small bush on the ground...

"What are you, coocoo for cocoa puffs!?" Mach 5 called down from the ledge. Quackers looked up drunkenly, still a bit confused at what had happened.
"Are you alright?" Mach 5 yelled out once more.
"...Yeah, I'm fine." Quackers admitted, with clear disappointment. He lifted himself to his webbed feet and rustled his way beyond the bushes.
"So you comin' back or what?" Mach 5 asked.
"No... I can't, I won't!" Quackers cried harshly.

"What's all that racket?!" A dark, booming voice came from the darkness. Mach 5 and Quackers quickly fell quiet.
