My goodness. What a lot of lists. My turn!

Thinking about top five games, I have to think about which games I've gone out of my way to own and replay. Here's a little list-a-roo.

1. Curse of Monkey Island
2. Earthbound
3. Final Fantasy 3 (American)
4. Super Mario Strikers
5. Final Fantasy 9

Notes:
1 - I love the Monkey Island series. The third was the best in terms of humor and animation in my opinion. The whole series is worth a play if you ever get the chance, and if you have the patience for adventure games. C'mon, piratey adventures with insult sword fighting!
2 - Only one other person listed this game?! For shame. Very quirky, funny, SNES RPG set in the modern world. Still fun as hell to play. And Mr. Saturn!
3 - Just a good story... I've dug this game since I was a wee lad.
4 - You'll never, ever have as much fun with three of your friends as when you play this game. I've got three brothers, and we all play hockey, which is essentially the same thing here (soccer sped up). So making incredible three-pass goals is the sexiest thing in the world, and it's very fluid and easy to do in this game if you have some sort of understanding of what's going on.
5 - Another good story. I liked these characters the most out of any Final Fantasy game.

There are all kinds of runners-up, but not enough room to list them.

In no particular order (ranking varies depending on my mood):

* Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth 2: Soulbighter
* The Marathon Trilogy (yeah, I was a Bungie fan until the whole Halo thing happened)
* Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
* Medieval, Rome and Medieval 2: Total War (best wargame series ever!)
* Tetris (still good)

Why do people hate FFVIII so? It's the first Final Fantasy game I played, and that was the game that pulled me into the whole Final Fantasy world. Although it was the only FF game I ever finished...So I probably don't know all that much. But I would like to know why people do not like it over the other ones.

I am currently playing FFX by the way. It is amazing.

I don't know why people hate FFVIII so much. It was definetely better than FFVII, one of the most overrated games of all time.

4) Guitar Hero I and II

Yes, they are very awesome.

In no order:

Warcraft (series)
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Tekken (series)
Donkeykong Country 2
Devil May Cry (series)

This was hard, I had to think of it as "What games would you cry over if they didn't exist?" :/

Hm, tricky. In no particular order...

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (I want to play Innocent Sin, too, but there's the whole lack-of-an-English-version issue...)
Dance Dance Revolution
Shadow Hearts
SMT: Digital Devil Saga (This would probably be bumped off by Nocturne if I could find it...)
Earthbound

Oops, I guess I should include a Final Fantasy title -- I'd probably go with VI.

Hmmm, well, I guess I'll cheat like the rest of you have in certain areas.

1. Donkey Kong - I've for some reason played this game for hours on end.

2. The orginal Sonic trilogy + Sonic and Knuckles - Few series have the tendency to get exponentially better as they progress, Sonic was one of the few. The 3D titles are what the Star Wars prequel trilogy was to the originals, highly ill in comparison.

3. Garou: Mark of the Wolves - I'm a fighting game fan to some extent, but there are probably three I would put up there, those being, this, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Tekken 5. Garou made it to the list because it just has such an awesome cast of characters, and it's just such a solid 2D fighter. Whereas with the other games, barely 1/3 of their cast interest me.

4. Star Wars Rebellion - This game was hated on by most all the critics, but after giving it some time, I fell in love with it. Like just about every other Star Wars game, you play Rebels or Empire, and you attempt to take over other planets through diplomacy, sheer force, espionage, etc. Why this didn't catch on, I have no idea.

5. Day of the Tentacle - There was a time when Lucas Arts hosted games made by small development teams, and it was a good time. Day of the Tentacle is one of those games that showed that you could laugh at a game.

Honorable mentions.

Psychonauts - The eventual spawn of DotT, however, it did poorly, proving that gamers don't even know what they want.

Metal Gear Solid series - Could have done without 2.

Counter Strike Source - It maybe hell going against some gamers, but I don't think there's a more balanced shooter out there, also, the mod community for this is fantastic. You'll basically get your money back on the essentially free games you can download.

Battle Field 1942 - Another fun shooter, though slowly but surely less people are playing this in exchange for what in my mind are lesser games, I still have fun with it.

Ooo. Tough Call. I would have to say-

1. Xenogears
2. Final Fantasy 7
3. Final Fantasy X
4. Dragon's Breath, an old Amiga game (would that I could play it again!)
5. Drakhen, also an old Amiga and console game

The first three are iron clad, though their ranking is not. The last two...well, there are a lot of games I've been playing that could develop into favorites. Okami, Katamari Damacy, Disgaea and the like...they just don't have the nostalgic seniority that those two do.

Um, let's see. In no particular order:

- The Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. Nearly all of them from NES onward.
- Final Fantasy 6 and 10. I've played them all except 11 (why they included an MMORPG in their numerical games is beyond me and annoys the piss out of me :p) and those two are my favorites.
- Azure Dreams. A PS1 game that was sadly never that popular, but it was a lot of fun.
- The Suikoden series. I just love these games. D:
- Disgaea/Phantom Brave. I put them together because they're made by the same company and pretty similar as far as gameplay goes.

Monster Rancher, Beyond Good and Evil, Harvest Moon, and Xenogears/Xenosaga also get honorable mentions.
