I guess I re-create this thread as the original is gone.
I'm a graphic designer and cartoonist trained at The Joe Kubert School. So I posess a trained point of view for a specific standard of American comics.
I also posess all kinds of know how specific to comics, useful for cartoonists and perfectly worthless outside of that narrow context.
My work can be accessed via the 'web' link assoaciated with my profile.
My reviews can be harsh. I'm looking from " would this be worth someone's money were it published and available at a comic store?". But as I posess some know how , I try to point out what needs working on and often give handy pointers too.
What do you do? Post a link to your comic and I'll give you my honest feedback. If you arn't so brave, you can ask for tips relating to a specific subject.

Submitted for your consideration, and ready to go under the knife:
Knock on Wood
The comic works well enuf to be published - as in included in a magazine with other content. It's not strong enuf to sell a magazine on its own merits alone.
This is a beautiful example of proper 'scope' for a creators with limited drawing talent/skill. Many cartoonists have decent concepts but the execution suffers due to the artist attempting to meet a standard of drawing beyond their capabilities.
I have to assume this creator may have minimum drawing abilities - but in limiting his characters to simple polygonal shapes, the scope of the comic is well within almost anyone's means artistically.
There is still the matter of good design, this comic is pretty good design wise. Not a tough task, is a matter of filling the panels with the shapes and words such that the panel is filled.
Since the art is so simple and works being so simple - the strength of the comic lay entirely on the writing and humor. The writing isn't bad, it's entertaining with its cold war theme. Did I laugh or even giggle at any point - sorry. The material wasn't that strong.
If I had a small political science magazine I would consider your little comic a nice addition to its contents. It may also be appreciated by young kids. Very clean humor too, a rarity to see it as well done as you do here.

manga, left --> right
It's not my best work, considering I do it for fun in math class, but I'd love any critique. =]
thanks in advance.

Mykill, I always meant to ask you if you would look at my comic because I respect your opinion.
Detective Fork's first 100 or so strips can be found at the archive at detectivefork.com, starting at http://www.detectivefork.com/kill1.html .
My current main storyline, which is not yet attached to the older strips because there's a short storyline in the middle I'm finishing up, can be found right here on Drunk Duck at: http://www.drunkduck.com/Detective_Fork/
I'd like your general thoughts and critique, touching on whatever comes to mind.
Thanks!
Kevin

just wanna say "hey" mykill.
mykill reviewed my old work years ago when the duck was young, and most of the time he was dead on.
the reviews helped me to be a better comic creator.
thanks, dude :D

Do you have an official seal?
Huh?
DO YA???
Heh, sorry, I didn't mean to offend ya, fork. I just want someone who can talk me down. Someone to go negative. Sometimes unanimous approval is more more harmful than meaningless negativity.

True, I'm not a great critic because I usually focus on ths good things, not just in my reviews, but in general. A comic has to really be bad to get me scathing. :)

Hit me hard killer.
Probably look at the more recent ones as that gives a better indication of where I'm at now, and where I'm heading. I've learnt some lessons from the early stuff.
Link in sig, the drunk duck one.

I agree with subcultured :) mykill reviewed my old comic back on the old DD and he's great at pointing out weaknesses and areas of development and really honest about the good points of a comic. I personally admire him for his 'tough love' advice. My linework has massively improved and I'd like to think mykill was a factor in pushing myself to improve.

Hmm... I think the last time Mykill reviewed my comic it didn't have text bubbles. I've made significant improvements so have at it!

I think mykill isn't reviewing anymore. His last review was in December.
