Ever since I got this refurbished unit from the repair shop (I sent the unit I actually bought to the repair place because the video on it broke), I had to deal with disk read errors and more lately, the system freezing within an hour or two while playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope. So I did what I was told never to do with any CD player (something about the drive bearings wearing out faster or I was told)... I turned my 360 on its side. Now the thing hasn't given me trouble since I started playing with it turned on its side. I guess each 360 has its own personality (the old one made noises if I turned it on its side)...

I let my guy stand on his side. It worked well until I got the red ring. :(

I heard that the 360's really don't last very long anyways no matter how much you take care of it. our 360 died when the disk drive didn't read anything (we tried cleaning the disk, turning it on its side and upside down and nothing didn't work) and now my mom tore it apart with hopes of replacing the disk drive. Its just not worth it. D'=

I sent mine off, they replaced it quickly, and from what I can tell it works pretty good. Still pretty loud though.

Please, please, you give me too little credit.
