I promised myself I'd stay away from Pokemon since playing Ruby, but my friend got Diamond, and that kinda swayed me to get Pearl. I mean, he even got this Pokerus [en.wikipedia.org] thing, which I found out can be spread to other Pokemon. In addition, with his help, I could get all three starter Pokemon. Can you really blame me for caving in?

I got Diamond a couple of weeks ago and so far it's awesome. I'd play more of it but my DS's touch screen went and broke the same day I got the game. So I can't use the Poketech, but I can still play through the game.

But yeah, it's definately on par with Gold and Silver, especially since the Day and Night system returned which was what would have made Ruby and Sapphire a whole lot better.

I've played at least one version from each generation.

...Man I loved Crystal. It was like a awesome version of G/S.
But it messed up and wouldnt save anymore or something.

Yep, that was the one bad thing about Gold/Silver/Crystal: The cartridge stopped saving after only three or four years. It's why I could never get another run through Silver. It had something to do with the internal clock or something, and fixing it meant opening up the cartidge and risking damaging the entire game. Meh, good thing the remakes are coming, and hopefully soon.

What happens to the old cartridge is that there's a battery that as long as it has power keeps track of where you saved. But finally the battery runs out of energy and then your game resets.

It is possible to put a new battery in so you can save again, but that won't keep your old saved game. So after another 3-4 years it would be gone again.
The new DS cartridges are actually flash drives so they don't have that problem. I'm not sure about Game Boy Advance though.

I dont think that was the problem (or...maybe it was) cause it stopped working only after a few months or so. I'm sure I didnt even get a year to play it. :P

Oh yeah, and back on subject, I've been getting into Diamond more lately after a week break. The play time of this one seems a bit lengthier than the older ones. Is that just my imagination? The world doesn't seem too big...maybe there's just more stuff to do?

Yes there is more stuff to do. Especially after you get the National Pokedex.

Diamond and Pear is my favorite just because there are 493 pokémon to catch. That in itself is quite godly. Fire red and leaf green are my second favorite, becasue my original favorite would be the RBGY series, but the remake is sooo much prettier. Plus you can run, and that's pretty sweet.

Man, when I was 9 (I think...it was along time ago!) I would record the pokemon show to pause the 'pokemon rap' thing to find all 150...then I got that nifty poster :P I have red, yellow and silver...but my silver's date is all wrong. It's stuck on one day and doesn't move, so I can't get the eevee evolves anymore (cries). I seriously have no intention of playing a newer version, but I do remember the classics with glee. :)

Well,I had a very bad experience.I had just gotten Dialga and then suddenly
I find a shiny Golbat ( I know,right!) in Mount Coronet,Then my game crashes!
I was just crying all day long!I got over it and beat the game later.

Also, Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie are probably the worst legendaries I've ever seen.

Palkia and Giratina are the shit though.

Azelf, Mespirit, and Uxie all seem just like Mew clones. Nothing that hasn't been done before.

I haven't played pokemon since silver/gold... but they were pretty addicting. If I ever get a DS, I'd probably buy the lastest pokemon game... (just no one will know that I'm playing it. haha) Man, pokemon was so cool back then in 5th grade... I was freakin' addicted. Then pokemon started appearing out of nowhere and it became... I dunno... annoying? Boring? But yeah... the pokemon craze may come back to me... haha.

Heh I still play Pokemon sometimes. Mostly when I can't think of anything better to do. Got at least one of each of the sets, except Diamond/Pearl. My friend has it, it's pretty cool with all the features and stuff, but I've always been entranced by new technology. lol! Now apparently some things only happen at very specific times; for example there's this one trainer you can only battle from 4 to 10 in the morning, and some Pokemon only come out on Friday. Weird.
Anyway, said friend also has a guide for it and I looked through the Pokemon. Nothing particularly original. You have the three beginners, a bird Pokemon, a bug Pokemon, etc. etc. Knowing me, half of the reason I'd get the game was to mooch creature ideas off the Pokemon. xD

I love how we can trade our pokemon forward from our older games, it lets the update be less lame to people who spent a lot of time on the older games unlike the transfer from GBC to GBA. I didn't like the transfer from GBC to GBA that much...

Now my invincible team complete with a Metagross that has an attack higher than its hitpoints can rampage over a new generation!!
