Not very long ago we talked about the differences in variety in manga and western comics. The manga style has very strict traits to it, which I still believe are what disinterest me the most about the style, but I freaking love mixed media art. Dave Mckean is my GOD. I had said that when an anime or manga does that style art I would like it.

One of the contestants in the comic book challenge, Melissa Diaz, does mixed media art. The art is very manga influenced, you can tell by looking at it, but the mixed media is just awesome. It isnt as surreal and abstract as I like, but it is very inventive.

Everybody, go vote for her. I did. Yep. I voted for a manga book. So, nyah.

Well I am glad someone likes it because I can't stand it. But if you like it go vote for it. With ideas like Davis' and Granger's, and that Gunplay one, she is going to need all the help she can get.

Eh.. I think there are stronger contestants, to be honest. I wouldn't go so far as to say I can't stand it, but it doesn't feel very strong as a whole to me. This is one of the cases where transparent text boxes bother me - I find the narration on that page extremely hard to read due to the combination of tiny letters and transparency in the box. The words don't fit very well into the white text bubbles, and the shapes of the "hooks" on a couple of them really bug me.

I wish we could see more than one page of it, because I wouldn't vote for it based on this example. :/

yeah, I dislike the transparent boxes, but I just tought her art style was awesome and unique and that was enough for me to vote for her.

I just noticed the judge on the left is the guy from Scrubs. AWESOME.
