mute the anonymous

I'm sure most of you have dealt with people(assuming they aren't all the same person) posting bad comments and basically be annoying and using the anonymous feature so you don't know who they are. well, I just realized that instead of commenting back at them, we sould just mute them out. It's what I'm gonna start doing

If you don't like the comment that's always the best way to go.

A good battle against a comic disser is better I always say.
Like when me and some guy had a little misunderstanding in where boh of us were idiots and now we're "buddies"?
Or like taking those comments and either a) accepting them or b) laughing in their face.
b) is the way to go.
But Mutin's good too.

The practice of leaving comments designed to infuriate people is called "trolling." Most trolls favor anonymity. Arguing with a troll just feeds into their fantasy; you've given up control to them since they WANT to get a rise out of you. Ignore them and they'll usually leave in order to find someone else who will play along with their plans.
Don't confuse trolling with debating or criticism, though.

If you don't want the comments on your page, even muted, you can just report them. We'll delete anything that comes in because we think a comic owner should be able to have only the comments they want on a page, there's nothing that says they have to keep every comment up. If they're trolling or abusive comments, having them reported can also help us identify people who need 'special' attention. :]

I swear some people consider trolling an art, others just feel very strongly about what they have to say, these usually aren't done anonymously though.
I've had some anonymous comments on one of my comic recently, nothing bad though, I guess the user just wants to be anonymous.
If I get any bad anonymous comments... well I dunno what I'll do I guess it depends on what they have to say.

My comics are lot loved enough to have haters. XD
But yeah, don't reply to those. Feeding the trolls doesn't do any good. You can mute them, report them, or ignore them. If the comment upsets other readers, I would definitely remove it, but if it is simply testament to the anonymous poster's idiocy, and the other readers ignore it, then you can leave it. Comments boost your comic ranking, regardless of their contents or rating, so a really present hater can give your site a boost. ;)
Of course, genuine critique is a different matter, but if someone posts it as anonymous, I'd have a hard time taking it seriously. Anon = troll to me for some reason.
Why are there no anonymous compliment-givers? Some masked do-gooder spreading love throughout the site? Wherever they are hard feelings, Captain Anonymous will be there! Heh. Guess not.

People will sometimes use the annon feature to comment on porn comics because they're embarrassed.
You know, Skool and I are sometimes, very occasionally, once in a blue moon... we're tempted to leave a snide remark under the guise of anonymity, but we never, ever do. Mainly because we know it'd be reported and we know the other would see our comment (when it WAS reported) and think less of us.
lol!

Like I always say, why would I be bothered by commetns attacking my comic?
To leave those comments you had to read the comic, thus giving me hits.
So troll away!

What Hark said. There's this chance that if I do everything you do that I might actually get readers. That or more boob jokes and explosions.
Though I always feel anonymous, like anyone connects Bravo1102 with the real misfit behind that name? The two aren't necessarily synonomous. It's a few errant typed words on a computer screen. It's not like someone is screaming and waving the middle finger at you in traffic and then walking over to your car with a tire iron and smashing in your windows... breaking your jaw...
So troll away kiddies, it means you're out there and reading the comic.

I agree. I love any kind of response. I wish you would come back Harko your comments were some of the most interesting I've ever got.
Drunkduck is the webcomics community if you comment on other peoples comics they'll usually return the favor. Because of this some critics say that this site is nothing but a circle jerk but that's the way it works. I think it's good I've meet some really good friends through DD.

i'd like a definition of "bad" comments, actually. because i consider blank 5's to be the height of a bad comment myself because of their uselessness while this guy seems to take bad as meaning "doesn't compliment his work"
seriously, you shouldn't compliment sprite comics, they're uniformly awful.

Well, this hasn't happened to me (yet) but if it did,I would just leave it there.
The "critic" wanted to be heard so badly he needed to post a comment(or even to make an account just to troll here) why not let him be?
I personaly think it's hillarious, and since comic rating doesn't matter any more ranking doesn't go down.
For some reason,full-blown flaming is very popular in the sprite community, which I find very ironic because all sprite comics look identical to me,so when someone talk about some kind of "art quality" I can't help but laugh.
Maybe it's the preeten target audience, donno

I've found that mentioning the fact that you guys can go in and find these comments and deal with them usually spooks off most low-level trolls and irritants. Whether or not they fully believe you doesn't matter, just that they realize their comment can be reviewed often times seems to be enough.

I dunno about the commentless 5's I have some regular readers who often comment but sometimes just leave a 5. I often do the same if it is a comic I read regularly. If it is one I dip in and out of I prefer to actually comment. Sometimes I just have nothing to say about a page and saying "great page" everytime gets dull.

That's why I usually don't comment on the comics I read. Uniformly I can't think of anything to say and would almost always only end up parroting the comment immediately above mine. So I don't leave comments. I don't feel familar enough with comics to say anything useful, so I don't asy anything at all.
It has been pointed out that you have to leave comments to get them. That is not a circle jerk, that is the way the world works. Everywhere. There's even a word for it. Reciprocate. I used to do judging at various shows and displays and if you wanted coments You had to be ready to compliment another's work. At shows this often meant tracking down the guy who did the work and I did because I wanted the person to reciprocate. You say how nice their work is and they would follow you over to where you had your stuff on display and say stuff and a lot of times it was true creative critique. But that was something I really felt comfy talking about.
Now a days (after the last few head injuries?) I just can't think of anything to say.

I have never gotten a negative comment, anonymous or otherwise.
Yes, I have gotten criticisms on occasion, but they were of the constructive variety. I have yet to attract any flat-out flaming.
Actually, I'm looking forward to getting a few nasty comments. Your comic hasn't actually attained any significant popularity until it begins to attract some trolls.
