I occasionally use GIMPshop when I want to do something MS Paint can't do, I don't have many problems with it, of course, I only do very basic pictures in it.

I'm gonna try inkscape, and artweaver.

Gimp is gone from my computer and it's never coming back, I've got photoshop elements, but as it's elements there's no line tools.

and yeah, I've learned that gimp can screw up your pc...

I've had my fair share of screw ups with 'teh glorious Gimp' also.
Mine takes almost half an hour to load up.
I would prefer MSPaint, but it tends to produce really crappy results, so I wouldn't suggest it :P.

... fuck paint more than gimp. fuck it with a rusty pipe covered in thorns up the ass. I haven't used it in years and I don't plan on doing it in the near future unless my life depends on it. And even then I think I'd tolerate a LOT of physical pain before doing so.



Actually, I'm giving inkscape a shot, so far I REALLY like the feature that you can EDIT lines after you put them down, but I'm not liking that I haven't figured out how to see the layers list... Should make for an interesting effect here soon because I think I have a LOT of them but I don't really know for sure. Also haven't really tried saving to a different format other than svg so I don't know if it will pixilate heavily or not. It'll take some playing with but meh, I'm having fun dealying my scheduled post time even more.

Not to mention that it's a hellovalot easier to use the line tool than gimp.

you could try paint.net. it's got every basic stuff that photoshop has, but it's more like paint on steriods. it's actually a pretty decent progam, and doesn't eat up your ram like photoshop does.

I actually use it for my doll base making... snice it allows me to exit pixels and do pixel art more easier than photoshop. but it has everything.. layers, fliters, speical effect brushes, etc.

and it's free too.
