I hate it when people name their characters a word in Japanese or some other language which translates into a character trait.
COMON!
Captain Ultimate Valor or whatever name just doesn't sound cool in any language.

Actually I think it's ok as long as said language isn't Japanese or some foreign language everyone learns in high school.

You know what? I really hate comics done on MS Paint, with a ridiculously large cast of regular characters, a lack of backgrounds, and a plot that rips off religion. What's even worse is when said comic has an overly simplistic, drawn-with-mouse art style. God, those comics are just terrible!
And then the same author probably has a hand-drawn comic as well, with terrible art and a mediocre plot, and characters who are named after rocks for no apparent reason! What kind of person could think that's cool?
And adding to that, the author probably has ANOTHER comic that actually showed some promise but hasn't been updated in months because the guy who does it is so concerned with his other comics.
all the comics probably end up with dumb names "Heaven vs Hell" or "Deus" or "Grim and Bob"... God, can you believe some people?

Oh I know I am guilty of cliches when it comes to vampire comics. Though I didn't get anything from Hellsing, which is why I dislike when people compare my comic to it.
Hm, people have pretty much named all of the most common cliches....can't think of anything else. o.o

Biggest cliche ever: Not being cliche. Therefore, everything is cliche.
Actually a cliche is an idea, expression, or phrase that gets overused to the point of losing all meaning or becoming novelty. Therefore, since "originality" is more of an abstract concept, not a single idea, being original isn't a cliche. Your definition makes it seem like anything that happens a lot is a cliche.
Also originality isn't commonplace. It's elusive, to the extent that some believe it doesn't exist anymore.

Great lists everyone!
Wolf is guilty only of the heroine lugging around a really big weapon that's hard to use and harder to store. Hehe! But at least there's a considerably valid reason for her to keep it and everyone else thinks she's weird to have it (but won't tell as much to her face). Heheh.
Villains don't think they are villains. Good guys aren't sure who the villains are.
Goodness, I think only the weapon cliche is the one I'm guilty of after all! And perhaps the deadly virus, though nobody is really hot on finding a cure except the heroine, and that's cause she's contracted it :neenjah:

Anime cliche 1002:
No matter where the character is injured, he/she should always be clutching the arm.
Animu cliche #142:
Bandages heal everything.

I find this one applies to a lot of TV shows and movies, as well. Take 24, for instance, the show where someone can get a drill bit through their shoulder blade and be back at work in ten minutes after applying a few bandages. Broken arm? Bah, that shouldn't stop you from using a PC.

If the comic/manga takes place in modern times, theres still always a character who would use a sword of some type against higher tech weapons like guns.
It the comic/manga takes place in the past, the clothing would sometimes still look as though it belonged to a modern era.
If the main character has a scar or strange tatoo, it's typically a curse or something magically affiliated. (thank gods the scar on my character isnt special. Just a cut from a pissed off, oversized bird)
Yeah, most of the cliches were named already.

I don't feel that cliches are always bad for instance exageration. I'ld read a whole comic based on just that.
One not mentioned, and not always bad is aurthors as characters. That can be overplayed, or the author could be a real character, and not just there to be an aurthor.

Here are some of mine:
Fantasy Stereotypes:
-The Male/Female main character is always a sword fighter, the supporting character, usually either an effeminate man or woman, is a spell-caster.
-The previously mentioned sword fighter starts with or gets one helluva nice sword. If they start with it, a huge backstory about how they obtained it is needed.
Magical Girls:
-The transformed outfit is always skimpier than what they were previously wearing.
-The source of their power is a wand or brooch, or some kind of huge gem.
-Despite the sudden awakening of massive magical powers, nothing strange that might indicate such latent power ever happened in the past.
I'm also one of those people who don't really like sprite comics that much. Some just seem like people don't want to try hard, or something. Not everyone can write 8-bit theater, people.

Well, one that really bothers me is the super sad shy girl who had a bad childhood and so now she mopes around all day emoing the place up. But then someone falls in love with her and she starts feeling a little less emo, but something happens where her love's life is on the line, and the mope master suddenly finds the courage to do something about it. Then everyone praises her and she becomes a stronger willed person.
Yawn, seen it a billion times.

the cliches I see alot:
in general:
an idiot.
a blatently wrong person that appears once every few comics.
in manga:
no girl is safe from skimpy clothing and one or two sexual jokes and the girls who do get away with small skirts can somehow jump without wind resistance.
in sprite comics:
badly drawn things.
stolen material.
a crazy twist.
mostly bad spelling.
and the comic generally being crap (not mentioning anyone of course :P)
Crap I'm 'cliche-ing'
although I use verdana with no speech bubbles... and I have no super overblown subtitle :(
and I spell good:P
I only slightly follow it... more so just getting to the end faster...
I have no drawing skill >_>
so that's why I make a sprite comic.

Darth Mongoose
Sprite comic cliches:
The title will have a really overblown subtitle, like 'The greatest battle of our time', or 'The ultimate tournament', or 'The FINAL quest!'.
It will follow the storyline of the game the sprites are from, but with slightly more sarcastic and/or badly spelled dialogue.
Regardless of the game in question, the text will be written in small, plain writing in a default computer font, possibly comic sans or MS sans.
...I can't think of any more good ones off the top of my head right now. There are plenty to go around though.

You know what I say to cliches?
BAH!
If I start making a comic(How many times do I have to say it:ARTIST WANTED! NOW!) ,and started using cliches, then I'd at least have the dignity of doing them properly! And if anyone had a problem with that, oh well!
That's the problem with cliches:they're solely based on the reader's opinion. And we, as writers/artists take it personally. We shouldn't. If they've got a problem, that's their problem, not ours.
Again, bah.
(and again again:ARTIST WANTED, FER CRYIN' OUT LOUD! PM ME!!!!!!)

Eh, I'm with ZeroVX. We're all gonna stumble over cliches every once in a while.
I think the best thing to do is to have fun with what we're doing, though.
Anyway, to add another cliche...
Cliche 783: Chosen ones. __________ is destined to become the _________ of (Random Kingdom in some elven language you don't understand). He/She must also slay _____, his/her mortal enemy in the process. :-P
