My names TMO, and I, am a n00b at MK. I use Baraka simply because he looks cool, and I use Kabal soley for the three-kick and three-punch combinations.
Translation: I have no idea what I'm doing, and for that matter, does anyone, or do we all just smack buttons and hope for the best?

I used to be pretty awesome back in the day. Scorpio and Sub Zero were, obviously, classics. I became preety masterful at using Mileena and Jade. And I kicked ass as Noob Saibot and Ermac.
But that was way back when... nowadays, yeah, it's button mashings for me.

I'm a little bit better with baraka, but the whole "No reach" think is kinda...infuriating, especially after playing soul caliber for years.

My philosophy to playing those games...or any fighting game: "Hey this guy looks cool!" Followed by mass button mashing the likes have never before been seen in a PG 13 setting.
And I dont't know if it was my lack of skill but...was it just me or did the really badass people have stupid moves?

No, you're right...with the exception of baraka, who when I'm using him I wind up yelling "ELBOW, FACE!" very loudly. But like scorpion in deception was horrible...asteroth in SC2 was pretty hard to use if you didn't practice a lot.
And in other news i beat MK for the first time every a few days ago, yay.

The original MK was just f---ing impossible to beat. I wasted less money on Space Ace in the arcade than on that thing.

okay now I have a general idea of what's going on, but baraka's still my favorite. I never beat the arcade versions, but I sure as hell tried. I pissed off people 'cause I would just duck and guard then uppercut them while they tried to figure out what to do.

Down back low punch. Like more blast moves in MK
So want to get Armageddon, but I'm kinda...you know...forced into waiting. I've beaten Deception with noob smoke, hotaru, and sub zero and I have to wonder: How many times is that fucker gonna die?

in MK3 smoke and scorpion have all the same speical moves and button combos.
and if you use (ninja) smoke than he looks exaclly like a gray scorpion and yells "GET OVER HERE" with his spear move as well.
also the MK arcade isn't THAT hard to beat.
now the simpsons arcade game thats a hella hard game.

About getting Armageddon:rent it first.
I'm not saying it's bad, just disappointing.
I saw the trailers for it, which all said that nothing was going to be the same afterwards, and I thought "I've got to have that."
So, I even went as far as to preorder it, and the special edition too.
*sigh*
So much overhype.
Like I said, it's not bad. Just consider trying it out first.
You'll understand once you've played it.

I want Marvel to get back with Capcom so we could have Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

Really? I loved MK:Armageddon. Sure, it wasn't the total reinvention everyone hoped for, but it was well-polished, fun, and packed a shitpile of content.

That's true, but I noticed that quite a few of the characters fighting styles were mostly copies of other characters.
And while the Kreate-A-Fatality feature was cool at first, they were all generic. No Toasties, no electrocution, no freeze-then-smash. Just regular stuff.
Maybe it was because Mr.Boon rushed it. Or maybe I'm just being picky.
Which version did you get anyway?

Xbox. Yes, I can play on Xbox Live, but noone plays MK:A anymore... :(
And yes, the kreate-a-fatality wasn't that good, but the core gameplay was still solid enough. All of the characters anyone gave a shit about weren't recolors or clones, so there is no reason to be not happy.
