I was pretty confused too. But I've been ignoring Mortal Kombat for a long time now, and so far it has worked for me. I'll probably just continue to do so.

Looks like shit to me. Mortal Kombat was bad enough when it wasn't ruining other people's franchises.

You know what's funny, is that Capcom was mixing Street Fighter with Marvel about a decade ago. This is the longest it has taken Mortal Kombat to rip off Street Fighter.

What was the last good DC character game? Marvel has the X-Men Legends series, most of the recent Spider-Man games, and the occasional Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. I can't thinkg of any DC games made recently that were well-recieved, or weren't highly derivative of an existing Marvel game...

The last good DC game I remember playing was Batman Returns for the SNES. I had a lot of fun with that one.
I'm fairly certain that LEGO Batman will be freakin' awesome, though, if LEGO Star Wars is any indication.
They had a bit on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe on X-Play yesterday and it didn't strike me as overly impressive. And there aren't going to be any fatalities, which is probably a result of DC not wanting to have Superman's spine ripped out or something along those lines.

I sure hope this will be good. DC Games are usually on the 'suckage' side. Let's see if this can compare to Marvel vs Capcom.

I'm looking forward to it anyway. Mortal Kombat was the 1st fighting game I played (unless you count Kung Fu) so it has always had a special place with me since I LOVE fighting games.
Though I really doubt you will be able to compare it to Marvel vs Capcom games since it will more than likely follow a 3d fighting sort of formula.
I'm not sure how well a 3d fighter would work with the chaos that the versus series brought to 2d gaming. Then again I wasn't a real big fan of the chaotic gameplay in 2d either =p

AFAIC, MK2 was the last good MK game. And yes, for that game alone, I will use "MK" and "good" in the same sentence. Baraka still sucked though. I loved using him because I'm sadomachistic, but he sucks. LOL @ footsweeping his arm.
1. If they're using iconic DC characters, the power differential is too unbelievable. Which is why I'll always maintain that iconic DC characters make for poor fighting games (unless we're talking DBZ-type fighting games).
2. No fatalities? FAIL. Get your head out of your ass, DC.
3. The retro kung fu schtick isn't fresh anymore, Midway.

Hell, they don't even need the MK characters for that to be true. Batman vs Superman? Doesn't matter what kind of martial arts Bruce may know, unless Superman's got some serious handicap, it just doesn't work as a fighter. I love the excuse Midway's pulled out of their ass for these obvious issues. Basically, they sum it up to "magic". That's right, it's because of magic that Scorpion and the crew can stand toe-to-toe with the man of steel.
I've never seen the MK series as being all that great when it came to game mechanics and overall fun. The violence and "humor" made the game what it was. You played it much for the same reason people collect all the summon spells in the Final Fantasy games. Just about anything gameplay-wise that the game tried to do was done better in other games. So now we're removing everything that was somewhat unique about the game to toss in some DC characters that make no sense in this universe. Screw fatalities, the game isn't even going to be M rated this time around, they're taking it all out. This game will be about as generic as they come. Supposedly there will still be some sort of finishing moves, but they won't be "fatalities" and while there may be some blood and visible damage on the characters, it has to be scaled back enough to make that T rating.

MK 2 was the shiznit.
But yeah, depth wise MK was never stellar. Every character was exactly the same in 2d incarnations barring special attacks.
I have not liked any of the 3d fighters much. I don't expect to really enjoy this game... but I'm still curious.
Shaolin Monks is the best thing they've probably ever made in the MK series actually.
I try not to think too much about how certain characters will even hurt each other. It's to be expected that everyone will be equal gameplay wise.
Apparently they almost made MK vs SF which would have been much more epic.

Mortal Kombat Vs. The DC Universe, announced last week, doesn't sound so bad. But did you know that we almost had Mortal Kombat Vs. Street Fighter in its place? Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon recently revealed that:I did a couple of write-ups and whatnot on it, and sometimes we'd get really close to it but issues like our representative for the other company left the company for some reason, and that reset the whole thing back to

Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat does sound a lot more exciting to me. However, I worry that the gameplay mechanics of the separate games would be too different to mix the two.

I think this is automatically going to suck.
DC games= crap 99% of the time.
Mortal Kombat without fatalities= Mortal Kombat without the good parts.
Nuff said.

Like most of everyone else, It did give me so many thoughts about this project.
The thing that kinda turned me down it's that it has no Fatalities but I found a link on Midway forums explaining stuff about the game.
http://forums.midway.com/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/b10806/28361816/p1/?64 , this is more informative about it.
Besides, I'm a big MK fan and to this day.
