Now while they don't actually SAY anything about a price drop, the price of the MGS4 PS3 bundle is $499. This is the price of an 80 GB PS3 on its own. But they're giving you a Dualshock 3 controller and MGS4 to go with it.

Seems odd to me that they would give you a free game, so I'm guessing that the PS3 is going to see another price drop soon.

Why is that so hard to believe. I think Sony has been bundling all of the systems with either Motorstorm or Spiderman 3 lately and I wouldn't be surprised if they changed their SKUs soon to include the DS3 instead of the sixaxis. Bundling a game with the system doesn't mean they're going to drop the price again. In fact, if anything, I think the fact that the price is the same suggests they won't be dropping it again any time soon.

Well yes, they've had bundles, but the bundles have cost more than the system without a game. The PS3 bundle with Motorstorm was almost $100 more than the normal 80 GB PS3.

Actually, there is no 80GB PS3 without the bundle. It launched as the PS3 Motorstorm bundle at $599 and the price dropped when the 40GB system came out to $499 (the same as the MGS4 bundle). The only way to get the 80GB system without buying one used is with Motorstorm, at least until this Summer.

Although a price drop doesn't sound unreasonable, I doubt in this instance it's the case. They're probably bundling it with the PS3 to push out more units. There are quite a few people who would like to buy the system just for MGS4, so why not package it with it. Promises units will sell, and lets be honest, the Sony really needs to catch up in console sales.

I'm hoping the price does drop, as I would like to get MGS4 myself, and play a lot of my old PS2 games. Crossin' my fingers.
