There's a new Metroid game coming out that will be unlike any other! I think you'll agree when you see this Trailer!

Wow, that control scheme looks horrid. Switching back and forth between holding it like a controller and a remote? I think Team Ninja has found a way to make the Wii controller even worse than the N64 controller.

The creature designs looks kind of goofy and the gameplay really doesn't look that exciting.

More like mildewed.

Anyway, this game looks better than anything I've seen coming up thus far.

Then you must really be out of the loop. I've seen plenty of upcoming titles that look like they will blow this away. Hell, this doesn't even look like it matches up to other Team Ninja games.

If you have a problem with switching from controller mode to remote mode and back to change viewpoints you must be really uncoordinated.

It looks like a lot of fun to me and a little more exciting than all the previous Metroid games.

Really? I always found the N64 controller to be really, really comfortable, if initially awkward.

I have to admit though, this trailer did raise my hopes for the game a bit, but it still doesn't look like anything special. I have to admit, the sequence at the end with mother brain looked beautiful, I just wish the rest of the game could look like that.

Or I just see it for the bad design decision that it is. What's easier for the player, using the nunchuck for directional control and holding down a button to go into first person mode or making the player completely change how they hold the controller? There isn't really any logical reason to do it the way they are doing it when there is a much better alternative available to every Wii owner.

The N64 controller was one of the worst deigned controllers of its generation. It was purposely designed to leave whole sections of the controller inaccessible to the player with its three grip design. Both of the competing systems went with something more practical and comfortable for the player.

I think the weird thing about the N64 controller was that it largely worked for whatever you needed to do, and in many respects I found it more comfortable than, say, the Playstation controller. However, because of the layout it left a lot of options lost; you either had access to the directional pad, or the control stick. Granted it still worked, but it lost a lot of the potential.

I think the way they're doing the 2.5D on this game looks pretty cool, but it also looks pretty confusing to me. The enemies don't appear to line up on a horizontal plane; are they all a threat, or just the ones on the same "plane" as Samus? Is there any way to attack the ones on the other planes other than going into first person mode? This really strikes me as one of those games I'd like to try before investing in it. I think it looks like it has the potential to be really fun and innovative, but at the same time it also has the potential to fail hilariously.

I was pretty disappointed when I learned that it didn't use the nunchuk, and the switching does seem a bit silly, but it might work, depending on how fast you can switch.

I'll probably give it a go, if I can find a shop that'll give me my money back if I hate it. (Because I hated the prime series...)

And I don't get the hate to the N64 controller. It worked fine, it's not like you needed to use the control stick AND the D-pad, you either had to use one or the other, it was always fine for me. :I
THIS NEW SITE SUCKS I'M LEAVING FOREVER I PROMISE, GUYS.
NOT BLUFFING, I'M GONE IF YOU DON'T FIX IT.
Oh god I'm so alone someone pay attention to me

You always had to use one of the other because game developers couldn't design a game that utilized both thanks to the controller's design. Developers have to work around what they're given. Nintendo obviously saw the mistake, they completely redesigned the controller for the Gamecube and went with something closer to the competition.

The N64 controller did just fine for the time. Obviously they've found better ways to make controllers and the N64 controller was one of the milestone steps on the way there. And it's so much better than the Jaguar controllers of the same generation.

This Metroid game looks fairly promising so far. A lot is riding on how it feels as you play it, but so far the hands-on impressions I've read have been fairly positive. I remember at least one journalist saying that there was a bit of a disconnect as you switched perspectives, but if it's no worse than switching to Morph Ball in the Prime series I don't think it will wreck the game.

Plus, I'm looking forward to a Metroid game with a little more story. It'll be nice to know a little bit more about Samus. Hopefully it won't become all anime-pretentious.
