Really this is just sad but what is a terrible movie Norbit and it's nominated for a couple of academy awards for make up...and that's terrible

Ziffy88The Acadamy Awards mean nothing to me at this point... Norbit did win a Razzie though and it totally deserved it.

No.
The only good parody movies were made by Mel Brooks.
Mel Brooks movies are great! But so were/are these:
* Airplane!
* Austin Powers (the first two)
* Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers
* This Is Spinal Tap
* The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!
* Monty Python and the Holy Grail
* Monty Python's Life of Brian
* Police Academy (the FIRST one- not the 5 that followed)
* Hot Shots!
* The Brady Bunch Movie
* Dead Men don't wear plaid
* Galaxy Quest
* Mystery Men
* Shaun of the Dead
but Meet the Spartans? Meh.

To me this feels very much like Scary Movie. I've already seen the movie and I laughed at the movie. But when Scary Movie came out it was like beating it over again and again I don't need to see it

Technically, Scary Movie was a parody of a scary movie that parodied scary movies.
My problem with Meet the Spartans is simple, just because you can emulate a popular scene from a popular movie, that doesn't mean it's a parody, hell, that's not even a homage.

I get your point, but a parody does not have to imitate an exact work. As a matter of fact...
Dictionary.com
spoof/spuf/ -noun
1. a mocking imitation of someone or something, usually light and good-humored; lampoon or parody: The show was a spoof of college life.

Isn't that the same post from the TD lefarce?
You mean is the TD post the same as here, because you obviously can't look at post times. I posted that in there because no one talking in here and it's boring.

I watched the previews. Meh, the dance idea was good, but the thing looks lame overall. Just a mishmash of popculture crap all squished in like a bad gamer comic...
ha! Did I say "Bad" gamer comic? Whoops... like any gamer comic. No offense to those who do them or like them, and most cartoon comics do that a bit, but the gamer ones tend to turn on the overkill.
Aaaaaanyway...so I suppose you could say that it's like an inept "funny" webcomic then?
interesting. ^___^

ozoneoceanAnything that is supposed to be humorous these days is crammed full of pop culture references. Its so stupid dont they realize how dated thier work will be in only a few years?

Worse than dating I think is the fact that a lot of throw away aspects of pop-culture just isn't that interesting or funny. Celeb culture is for morons... that's a given, and yet they stuff it in there with the rest.

I think oz hit the nail on the head.
A lot of comic writing focuses on the here and now. Take the Letterman/Leno monologues, SNL, MAD TV, Daily show sketches, or Simpsons/Family Guy/South Park topics. They aren't meant to stand the test of time. But you have to pick your topics.
All this movie does is bank on the same thing, except it doesn't discriminate. It throws all of the year's crap to the wall to fill 90 minutes. I'm sure it has it humorous points, but not enough for me to throw down 10 bucks.

Well, if this movie is anything like what I heard about Epic Movie (which, do not be fooled, this is a sequel to), then anything even resembling a joke is in the actual trailer. Those 2 minutes are probably the most they could get out of the movie that anyone will even crack a smile at.

Which is why I never cared to see EPIC MOVIE either.

I dunno. I was watching "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" which references pop culture people whose fame died years before I was born, and I still think it was really funny. I'm glad they put it out on dvd. If the stuff surrounding topical humor is funny, than it doesn't detract from enjoyment.
That being said, the only way I'm going to see this is if my friend who works at Regal sneaks me in for free.

You're a tad off. It doesn't even fill 90 minutes, it filled 68.

Hey hey hey! You remember in that movie 300 when he kicked that guy into that pit and he goes, THIS IS SPARTA! That was awesome... Wouldnt it be funny if he kicked Britney Spears in it? YA! Then he should he should kick a dead horse!

If he did kick a dead horse into the pit that would've been funny.
If the blind fat guy fell into that pit in the end, while stumbling around... I would've liked to see that too.
Anyways, this movie is not worth seeing. I only watched it to wait until I could sneak into Untraceable (which is ok but nowhere near Seven).
