PREPARE FOR PAYNE.....or is this actually going to be okay?

I find it almost pointless, but the morbid curiousity is still there because I enjoyed the first game. The cast so far is weird.

I bet exactly one thousand pounds that it will be terrible.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

My God, they really are going through with it. One of my favorite PC games ever is going to be massacred into movie form!
No kidding the cast is weird! I mean, Ludacris as Bravura? (Not Dennis Franz?) And of course, Mark Wahlberg as Max? (I would've loved to see David Boreanaz as Max)
The only person who seems to hit in her role is Mila Kunis as Mona, and that's only if she darkens up a bit.
Maybe this movie is meant to be a parody?

I'm glad they're making a movie, but only because maybe it'll revive the franchise a little and help spur a third game. Boy did I love the Max Payne games.
With a little luck though, maybe they'll at least try to match the atmosphere and personality of the games. That's a lot to expect of Hollywood, but it's their only hope of making the movie salvageable.

I choose to be cautiously optimistic about this one. Mark Wahlberg is playing Max Payne--he might actually be good! I'm just hoping that they keep the gritty narrative and the bad drug trip scenes because those were really what made the game cool. That and the graphic novel cut scenes, only those wouldn't really work in a movie.

How do you mean? I thought the movie Tank Girl threw in some comic panels very well in with the live action. Why couldn't Max Payne do something similar? Pause, segue into a graphic novel form, have some narration, and then have the characters actually melt back into the live actors. It'd make the movie stand out a bit, right?

Mark Wahlberg has shown that he can play the anti-hero role with the Bourne series. I think if they can duplicate a Sin City atmosphere then they should be on the right track.

Excuse me? What Bourne movies? The only ones I know of star Matt Damon.

I get them confused too for some reason...
Perhaps Mark can play a decent Max, but I have a weird feeling he isn't going to amaze me as him. And Mila Kunis as Mona, THAT I find the weirdest. I'll give her a chance but I'm so used to her as Jackie from That 70's Show. XD

It'll be about as good as every other video game-based movie.

Mmm... maybe. I liked Tank Girl but Max Payne had a different tone to it. It would be neat if they could make that work but I'm skeptical. I'll be happy if it ends up having more to it than Matrix-style bullet-time action scenes. I don't think it will but I can still hope right?

Of cource they could also make it comic-book-like in the same way as the first Hulk movie... if they want to ruin it.
