A NEW Zealander who invented a toilet that used worms to produce compost had to prove the worms were not traumatised before authorities would approve his product.
An Auckland Regional Council official told Coll Bell to get an expert's report on the psychological impact on the worms.
"She felt that the worms were being unfairly treated and that it could affect them in a psychological way," Mr Bell said.
He said his "wormorator" was finally approved after a vermiculture expert reported the worms were in excellent health and breeding happily.

Do worms even have a brain? I'm pretty sure they're one of those creatures that just has a basic, self-regulating nervous system. They do have a half-dozen hearts, though, as I recall. And that's six times as many chances to have them broken... how sad...

I'm with Croi on this one.
"Remember people, don't wash. You're killing microscopic dust mites on a genocidal level. Think of their families!"
"You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process," he added. "That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle."

Even if worms did think about things deeply and carefully, they're WORMS! They're in their freakin' element there!
The woman is clearly subnormal...
It's like saying "OMG, those goldfish in that pond are being degraded by having people LOOK at them!! Being fed every day makes them slothful, indolent, obese, lazy and lowers their self esteem! And with a total absence of predators they'll never learn the true value of life!!!"
