http://kotaku.com/5412428/there-is-a-lawsuit-featuring-world-of-warcraft-winona-ryder--depeche-mode

Erik Estavillo is suing Activision Blizzard for $1 million over World of Warcraft. Erik Estavillo is also a funny guy.

That or he's crazy. It could go either way.

Estavillo claims the company "continues to maintain a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow sneaky and deceitful practices".

And what could those "sneaky and deceitful practices" be? Walking is one of them, as he feels it takes too long to get from one point to the other in the game world. Because you can only speed up through extended play or buy purchasing an expansion pack, that qualifies as "deceitful".

He also believes that, because of a litany of health problems he suffers from (including OCD, agoraphobia, depression and Crohn's Disease), he's at risk of sharing the fate of Shawn Woolley, an Everquest player who committed suicide in 2001.

The best part follows: to back up his claims, Estavillo has subpoenaed Winona Ryder (who would presumably be able to "explain the significance of alienation in Catcher in the Rye") and Martin Lee Gore, of Depeche Mode ("he himself has been known to be sad, lonely, and alienated as can be seen in the songs he writes").

Best of luck, Erik.

This made me laugh my ARSE off. lol!

....What's funny is that the same man tried to sue Sony for pretty much the same thing.

Subpoena
1. the usual writ for the summoning of witnesses or the submission of evidence, as records or documents, before a court or other deliberative body.

...Basically he wants Winona Ryder and the Depeche Mode guy to show up at his court hearing. lol!

Very silly boy. He's obviously a nerd with a bad case of emo, and he's failing hard. With a frivolous court case like this, he might buy some helpful gutter-class fame, more likley though he'll be liable for Blizzard's court costs, become fully bankrupt and fail harder still.

And that's where it stops being funny and becomes hilarious.

As Lastcall already touched on, this guy's other lawsuits include:

- Suing Sony because they banned him from PSN for his hateful comments in the Resistance community.
- Suing Microsoft for $75,000 because of the undue stress and inconvenience he felt when he got a red ring of death on his Xbox360.
- Suing Nintendo because they released a patch that made his Wii incapable of running homebrew software.

The guy's just after easy money.

Funny thing is he will probably owe every company he sued a crapload of money for court costs. If he's trying to get money, he isn't doing it very well...

And this is easy money why exactly?

The owner of the rights of King Kong once sued Nintendo over the perceived copyright infringement from the name "Donkey Kong". He lost, because the Nintendo representative stated that, in Japan, the word Kong is common slang for any big apes, so they didn't intend to harm/steal the King Kong brand, and no one there would make the connection anyways.
And this guy thinks he'll be luckier, why exactly?

Maybe he just wants to be famous! This is bubble boy all over again. Well, to a lesser extent.

But he's done well for the getting famous part, and I will agree with him that Depeche Mode is pretty swanky. =P

Guess who just started up his own GAMING WEBSITE?!

That's right, Mr. Lawsuit. So I know where you'll all be going to get your fix of the hottest gaming news, a message board, and "pictures of Felicia Day and other hot girls of gaming".

Huh? He links to news stories on other sites has info about himself (which is interesting to no one) and mentions that girl with the funny name. I had no idea who that was actually, so I looked her up and she's just an ordinary girl with red hair. What's the big deal?

And to top it off his site template makes it look like something about nature conservation or recycling.

I wonder if he'll develop a following?

I like how he's the only member of his message board... lol!

Something feels fake about that website...looks & feels like one of those scam websites to get your IP adress or something.

Yeah, admittedly it could be fake. It seems like whoever made the website has put in as little effort as possible.

Felicia day has a cult following of supernerds. She's a reasonable actress and somewhat cute, but merely liking videogames propels her to cult status with all the geeks. It's the same deal with Morgan Webb, who is FAR less attractive and has only a fraction of the talent.

This is like the time that girl at McDonalds got molested and tried to sue the company for $100 million.

That was funny.

Well, Felicia Day is an actress. She had some parts on some minor stuff like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog, Dollhouse, and that silly Buffy the Vampire Slayer show.

Morgan Webb just talks about videogames on G4.

I came here thinking that a man actually sued a snow storm. I'm now struggling to decide which is more likely to win in a lawsuit, suing a blizzard or this. This is slightly ahead.
