There ya go, one soldier. How does this work exactly? I've had an unnatural obsession with broser-based games since I learned about them, but some experience with some have turned me off. I like the look of this one, but does it require a massive commitment?

I mean, will I have to join a clan and follow detailed orders (i.e. work) and have different hours I can or can not be logged on? Is it overly complicated? I read most of the rules, but I don't want to get stuck playing something that will take up time when I don't want it to.

But it doesn't look like it'll take too much. Seems like a "Wait until you can attack: Attack: Use Money you got from attack to buy soldiers: Wash, Rinse, Repeat."

The rest of it's just fluff.

There was a game I used to play back in the good ol days of dial up BBSs. It was basically an empire building game where you built up troops, bought different types of land, taxed your people, and used your army to take land from other players. I think each BBS was counted as a planet, as well, and could send attack forces to other BBSs to steal their suff. I've thought many a time about making a similar game, but lack the programming knowledge to pull off a database driven web game.

That game sounds kind of cool, Isukun.
I used to play Legend of the Red Dragon on BBSs. But I was in Idaho where BBSs weren't too common and rarely connected in such a way that they could play a game like that.

Mmm, I've never been a fan of text-based games myself. I've tried some a few times, then eventually got bored and stopped or just plain forgot about it. XP
But thar, you get one more soldier. Because I care. =D

Oops, you're right Shplane. Thanks for pointing that out. I fixed it in my post. And I've given you five as well.

The more I think about it, the more I really want to make that game. I could have the data structures planned out and the mechanics all worked out fairly quickly if anyone is interested in working on this with me. I can even think of ways to keep it really open to make it into a sort of DD multiverse thing where authors can create custom worlds, characters and items for the game.
