Dude... that picture was taken in 2004. The rover isn't anywhere near there anymore.

That doesn't change that they jumped to conclusion that it was aliens and decided to post it without checking to see if NASA rechecked the area. Anyways the "2008/01/23" part of the link made me think it was brand new. I'll admit it's a good picture. I just have had it with how the news media has evolved to this "must get ratings" mentality. Nowadays you have to shift through all the celebrity bull crap and who's dating who to see some actual news. And don't get me started with how unbiased they've become and......

Are people jumping to conclusions about this? From what I've seen the mainstream media is presenting this as exactly what it is: a cute little coincidence that a couple of crazies are going to latch on to.

What I don't get is that if that picture caused so much speculation, why didn't NASA dwell deeper into it? Why didn't they revisit the area and take more pictures just to rule out any speculation no mater how slim they were. I mean they did that regarding the famous face incident. Better yet, if they did recheck it, why didn't the media also show the follow up of that investigation?
