Well, Poinko finally ended his comic. Lancaster: The Ghost Detective just ended, and aside from a tidy little epilogue, this is pretty much the end. 4 years and 700+ comics later, we have a well-crafted final storyline and a culmination of everything he has learned from doing the comic.

I do think some congratulations and comments are in order for the guy, he poured his heart into the project and rarely missed an update, this is even more impressive considering the comic was pretty much updated FIVE TIMES A WEEK.

Even more impressive, there is an actual ending, which is rare for webcomics. So beyond giving this guy his due praise, it might be good to reflect where you hope you comic is 4 years and 700 pages later. Do you have an end in mind? Do you think you'll make it that far?

I think it's refreshing to see someone end a comic properly. So, without yapping further, please leave the guy a comment and feel free to discuss the idea of proper endings in this thread, I'd love yo hear some thoughts.

I'm a fan of gay/lesbian webcomics- and they rarely have an ending -.- I can only name one that i didn't read.

The author either quits or keeps the comic going on forever.

I don't think I'll ever get to the END of my series. I made sure I had enough stories that it could go on for a long long time. I look at my story completions in chapters and volumes.

My 1st story arc (which happens to be it's own chapter and volume) is nearing completion. In a sense I will finish that comic, I'll make a new comic afterwards dropping the Prologue title.

Though that's more of an error I made when I 1st named my comic here than actually a premeditated plan =p

I don't even want to think about where I could be in 4 years. I didn't expect my current story to take more than a year to finish but it has. I'll just have to wait and see.

This current story looks like it will be around 360 pages at completion.

Wow! Poinko is truely an inspiration for us all.

I have yet to finish even one project...wait! I did, but I mean, to actually keep it on here.

My goal however, is to get as far as I can possibly go.

And again, I've taken several looks at Lancaster, but I felt too lazy to go and read it all :P

Seesh, even if he hadn't finished the comic, I'd give him a standing ovation. That takes dedication and discipline to pull off.

I don't think Morphic will drag out to be 700 pages long - at least, I hope not. And I do have a vague end in mind; it's not actually written yet, but since it's a story-based comic and not gag-strips, eventually, it will reach some sort of end. I think that I might be 30% through the storyline now, and I've got plans for the next few chapters, and some loose scenes after that, but it's a bit vague yet.

In 4 years, I hope to be finished, with a proper, wraps-up-most-of-the-loose-ends kind of ending. I'm telling a story, and stories have beginnings, middles and ends, and it would feel very wrong to just leave things hanging - both for myself and for the readers. Maybe I'll go on hiatus a couple of times, maybe I'll re-write the ending fifteen times over and still change my mind one last time before I draw it, but it'll get done.
