What do you think about the latest updates in TF2? (PC version).
I like that the items you get are unlocked randomly now instead of through achievements all the time- that sort of thing pisses you off when you just want to play casually and not dedicate yourself to getting silly achievements just so you can try out some weapon...

But it's a bit weird how you can unlock more than one of something... what am I going to do with two sandviches?

So far out of the new stuff I've picked up the backs shield thing and the hunting bow for the sniper. Both are pretty cool- It's fun to pin someone to the wall with the bow. It's fast loading, you can move well while using it, you can get the arrows lit on fire so you can set your target on fire... And I love that arrows stay sticking out of things and people. -don't hold it too long though or the arrow goes weird.

The shield is great because finally it means you have some chance against spies and don't have to run around quite as much...

I haven't got the Jarrate stuff or whatever it is... looks like a urine sample jar. It seems to make everything wobbly and give you drunk vision when it's used against you, and slows down time for you (?) if used by your own guys on you. It uncovers spies... And apparently you can set it on fire too, although I haven't seen that yet.

The sniper stuff also has crosshairs now and not just the stupid dot... that makes it a lot easier to use for new people. I hope that doesn't mean games will start being ruled by snipers now, that'd be crap. :(
I wouldn't mind if they all used their bows instead though. :)

It was funny when I was getting ready to fire an arrow and a damn scout came along and stunned me with a baseball. -For some reason that made me automatically fire the arrow, which went right through his head and killed him. Pretty neat since was was a bit of a distance away at the time ^___^

And something unrelated that happened when I was still trying to get the bow, playing as sniper...
It was in Goldrush and I was defending. A heavy and doctor pair came along, they had a kritskrieg. I thought I could jump down and hack them with my knife before they saw me. It didn't work that way, the heavy saw me almost immediately, but strangely as I was standing right in front of him chopping away and he was blasting at me with his minnigun, screaming like they do, not one shot hit me. Freshly chopped bacon and not a scratch. ^_^

I've been REALLY enjoying the new update. In fact, I'm probably going to play some more after this post. The new maps are my favorite part. I had most of the unlockable weapons before the update but since then I've picked up the hunting bow and two Bonk soft drinks.

My Steam name is thelaserhawk, for anyone interested. I also play Left 4 Dead.

In a future update you'll be able to trade extras for other things you don't have.

The jar of pee is a gag that comes from the Sniper's introduction video . A little over halfway through you'll see a time-lapse portion where he's waiting for a kill and converting his coffee in the meantime. I love Valve's TF2 videos. They've got some of the best animators around and a great sense of humor.

By the way, the pee jar causes enemies to take 35% more damage for a limited time, it shorts out a spy's cloaking device, and it will put out your teammates when they are on fire.

The huntsman bow isn't that great a weapon really... It has the same travel time as the flare gun shots. For long range you will be OWNED by snipers with rifles. In short rant it's just WAY too slow to do much with. Currently I've found it best as a medium range weapon when the enemy is in crowds or when you can run in and out of cover quickly. There aren't many situations like that in the game unfortunately, it happens, but most of it seems either close or long. It's not much good on fast moving maps either...

But I like it. I persist. It's fun to pin people to walls and get a headshot on another sniper who's got a rifle.

The huntsman would probably be best if every sniper used one instead of their rifles.

I totally agree with you on the Huntsman. It hurts that it's both slower and has not zoom, so it feels wholly inferior to the rifle. I'd like them to speed up the arrow a bit. I did have some luck with it when I holed up in a tunnel with little dodge-room.

The jar of pee, on the other hand, is awesome. It feels like a really helpful item, especially since I didn't get much use out of the sub-machine gun.

So far I've gotten a lot of duplicate items. I'm still trying to get the Razorback, the Sandman, the Dead Ringer, and the Ambassador. I had almost every weapon before the update. I hope they let us trade weapons soon, because I refuse to go to one of those idle servers and cheat.

Heh, I'm still missing a few of the other weapons from before this update, and I did get a few more of those during the first few hours of the latest update which was nice... But now I'm just getting duplicates. -_-

I'd LOVE to be able to throw piss at people, but that's the one sniper weapon I still lack. Gah! I haven't any spy weapons at all either.

The Razorback is a godsend for snipers against spies, if you're quick enough to react afterwards that is. When the spy has had experience with a razorback you don't get much of a chance, but it's fun to get the ones who don't have any idea why they couldn't kill you. It makes you move too slow to catch a fleeing spy with your knife though, which is a pain. So you have to try and shoot them if they run, because if you go after them with the kukuri they'll just run ahead and kill you with their revolver. Lots of fun if they stay and fight though. :)

I HAVE my piss jar! It is just as awesome as I always hoped it would be :)
I throw them at EVERYONE.

I love TF2 so much...but I play it on the PS3... :-( And those new updates are super fun looking, especially for someone who has been playing the basic game.

I think Valve's excuses for not putting updates and other Valve games on the PS3 is some garbage. They say it's too hard to make games for the PS3.

It is now an essential tool in the workplace.

I love the huntsman. You're right about it sucking against other snipers but if you just learn to avoid them I've found that not having to charge up really helps. I used to suck at sniper, now I suck slightly less.
i will also like to know you the more
