Seen it loads of times, it's one of those undemanding and entertaining romps that I can watch anytime.

I sooo tired... zzzzzzzzz I want to post though.

Ugh! I liked Sewell much better in that film. Ledger was such an oaf! And I find pop-culture anachronistic abortions irritating- there was another one about highwaymen or something where one of the guys has an eyebrow stud.
He's F*cking HIGHWAY man! That's as cool as you can get! Putting an eyebrow stud in him just makes him lame.

Last film I saw was Scott Pilgrim Vs the World.
It was just great fun, with lovely silly fight scenes that're symbolic in the same way numbers in a musical are. And it just LOOKed really good.

THE GIRL IN THE CAFE

About a May/Dec romance between a quiet young woman and a lonely but well-careered man. Another win for Bill Nighy, who's a relatively recent discovery for me.

I liked it, but then I watched it when not feeling well, so the slower pace suited me. Acting is spot on, and I like the hopefulness it portrays.

Generation Kill.

Well okay, I haven't watched all of it yet; I'm waiting for Netflix to send me the last disc. But I'm lovin' it so far. I always wished I'd gone into the military rather than trying to hack it as a civilian puke. I'd have been so much happier killing people. And GK is the next best thing to actually participating in the invasion of Iraq. I like that it's neither flattering nor preachy, and it paints a vivid picture of what the war looked like for some of those who took part in it. What struck me most was the absurdity of much of what they went through. I'd recommend it to anybody. It's not a gung-ho actionfest or anything, but it's thoroughly entertaining and illuminating.

Favorite movie moment: After tragically shooting a child at a checkpoint, the marines switch to using "nonlethal" smoke grenades fired from the grenade launchers on their rifles. Then they shoot a smoke grenade at an oncoming vehicle to get it to stop, and it ricochets off the pavement and takes off the back of some poor old man's head! I know it's awful, but you just have to laugh!

Well, last time I watched any movies was a few nights ago, when a couple of friends and myself watched some terrible movies.

What an unfunny piece of crap.

Watched from dusk til dawn last night, twice. Once normal and the second time with the chat track between tarantino and rodriguez.

Overall it is by far the best thing QT has had any involvement in, and the chat track was really interesting and amusing. It's things like that which make me want to like QT's films.

The 1954 A Star is Born

I'd seen the 1937 version which was very witty and well done and I love Frederic March.

This version introduced me to Judy Garland BIG TIME. That girl could sing. The movie is a real weeper with James Mason and Judy crying a lot. But it's the music soundtrack that makes the movie. It's Judy's movie.

As Time Magazine said Garland "gives what is just about the greatest one-woman show in modern movie history," And for that it's thrilling to watch.

A good thriller on the same old premise "OHMIGOD THERE IS A NEW GOSPEL THAT WILL CHANGE CHRISTIANITY FOEVER!" But this is not bad because Gabriel Byrne and Jonathon Pryce are actors worth watching and this movie doesn't fall for the cheap stuff. There is some good direction and imagery in there too.

If only the Nag Hammadi texts had ended up being as mind blowing as all the movies and novels say they are supposed to be.

The Green Hornet.

It's better than what a lot of people are saying.
Its funny and exciting at the same time.

Think 'Lethal Weapon' but with masked avengers!

Kato takes the job seriously but he doesn't like it.
The Hornet likes what he's doing but doesn't take it seriously.:)

Going to second Tron Legacy.

Interesting thing I noticed about the movie: everyone I knew that knew something about computers/video games loved it, while everyone else disliked it. To me, the overall concept is amazing!

Good Bye, Lenin! A German film from the perspective of East Germans when the wall came down in '89. I liked it. Funny and touching --- and a different perspective than what the U!S!A! generally provides.

Since I'm doing internal aerobics what with my constant coughing this week, the theater is out and I have a bunch of DVDs. On tap for a couple of days now has been The Squid and The Whale. But the music for the top menu is just too soothing that I just can't bring myself to hit "play". Has any body seen It? Jeff Daniels movies can really go either way for me.

Right now I'm watching Benny and Joon.

I keep seeing Jack White instead of Johnny Depp.


And I saw most of Jackie Chan's Project A yesterday.


But before this I have to sadly say The Love Guru with Mike Myers which was really stupid but funnier than Goldmember.

A Knight's Tale was mediocre.

I don't like period films with modern slang/music either, but forget that for a moment since that's a subjective thing.

The jousts. They were boring and they were bad. They lack any intensity. You can always see the losing person drop his lance or intentionally aim it waaaay out. Even if they don't have the budget for basic CG, I guess they've also never heard of trick props.

I've never seen A Knight's Tale, at least all the way through. I always get to that opening with We Will Rock You and I give up. I also never heard anyone say it was good until Ledger died, then all my friends started blowing the movie left and right.

It's cheesy fun, guilty pleasure or would be if I felt guilty about that stuff.

The Secret of Kells

Just freaking gorgeous, and even though it's a pretty simple story there are a couple of layers to it. Music was beautiful and what can I say Aisling's song is just one of those songs that haunts you after you're done watching the movie.

Suspiria

It was better than I thought. Better as in having good qualities. I expected the kind of horror movie that is so bad it's good/hilarious, especially since I got it from the same person who lend me Count Yorga Vampire(you gotta watch this). But I actually got into most of the movie. And even if the story would be completely bad, the music and the scenery's worth it.

After watching the Ninth Gate that movie was an absolute pleasure. Someone really botched the script there, (Roman Polanski?) Frank Langella was painful to watch and Johnny Depp just chain smoked. The garbage about the book in the movie was bogus and obvious to anyone who's ever looked at a deck of Tarot Cards. (unlike Stigmata's quoting The actual Gospel of Thomas giving a decent background on the stigmata and making it a possession by an obsessed person rather than SATAN.)

The Spoilers (1942)
Marlene Dietrich at her most sultry, Randolph Scott as a sleeze and John Wayne as the strong man's man. Some great bits in here between Wayne and Marlene and she loves every minute of it. It lead to a real affair between the two of them and they sizzle together. One of the longest fistfights ever done on screen. Sure you can see where the stuntmen stepped in and catch the continuity errors but this is Hollywood stunt work at its best. Everything that came after owes something to this fight.

Agreed. Ninth Gate is torture; and because I want to block it from mind and memory, I keep stumbling upon it thinking, oh, Johnny Depp - what's this?

Can't think of Any spook/end-of-the world/demons v angels --- any movie along those lines that's much good. Recently had high hopes for Drag Me To Hell, and it was as bad as the rest, but not bad enough to be fun.

I don't remember the ninth gate that much but I didn't hate it.
I also quite liked drag me to hell, but far from excellent.

Just watched Hancock, such a weak second half. But the beginning is great.
