I saw an article somewhere about a guy who successfully defended himself against a knife.
He had no martial arts training but won the fight. How?
He instinctively put his hand near his face... and the knife of the attacker got trapped in the bones of his left hand. And then he "fought like hell".
He came out of the fight with lots of wounds though. I'll post it up when I get the link again. :( Brutal shit.

eh, That guy's a noob and a moron... See that first vid? His opponent supposedly has a knife so he gets in close and give him a hug? Looked like he wanted a kiss. Heh, his hair definitively isn't the stupidest thing about him...
Heh, a lot of militaries have their own fighting styles tailored to their needs, can't see what's special about this one really... Most real fights are brutal, ugly, vicious, and fast, it'd take a person with truly masterful skill and ability to get into a real fight and still manage to make it look cool and graceful.

He said he trained for hand to hand fight with no weapons.
The reason why he hugged his opponent is because of his training for fighting in a cage.
In a fistfight, it is to your advantage to hug the opponent if he tries to shower you with punches. Because at that close range, the strength of the punches will be weakened by around 80-90%.
But knives make a different story.

The training is irrelevant in that regard. The situation is that he's "facing" a knife, that has to be his main focus, it's not hard... -_-
