Some people build swimming pools in their back yards.
But outdoor pools in Alaska just won't work.
Since this particular family lives on the outskirts
of Anchorage, they decided to build a sturdy,
colorful playground for their 3 and 4 year old sons.
with smooth-stone gravel all around it to avoid knee scrapes and other injuries.
They finished building it on Saturday evening,
and the following morning, as the mom was
about to wake up the boys and have them go
out to play in their new play center, this is what
she saw from the upstairs window:





Bears love to play on kids' playsets! who knew? That, or those poor bears out there didn't have enough enterainment that they had to find it so entertaining. lol

bears are cool :)

If she was smart, she would send the kids out anyway.

I would teach my kids how to wrestle a bear on that day.

Wouldn't that freak you out as a parent...Dog's your prepared for---'gators, in some regions, sure...But Bears? OH MY! Not bear...Bears, plural. That would be scary!

Yeah. they look to be bear cubs... but still can be pretty freaky... conidsering the fact that thier mother could be nearby watching.
and just imagine, that many cubs had to come out of an HUGE bear.

I bet that the parents soon as the bears went away, they got around to installing an fence so that the bears wouldn't be able to enter their property again.

dude, how adorable is that? Very adorable. This one bear used to eat out of the birdfeeders up in my grandma's cabin. Very amusing to watch...I think he was shot though after mauling that one lady in her house though.

Well, depending on where you live, you should also be prepared for bears. lol! Looks like that house was in the middle of a forest somewhere, so I'm guessing the bears weren't a big shock.

I bet in that area you are used to seeing bears occasionally. I know black bears are pretty commen in parts of the northern US and Canada, and they are pretty docile, I can't think of the last time I heard of a black bear being aggressive. One thing you are definatly not used to, though, would be a bear going down the slide. It's super cute, though.

The cubs may not be too agressive , but Mama ain't far behind. Never is. And she'd rip your herad off with one swipe.

Problem with black bears is that their paths become annual, so this family will keep coming this way again and again unless they are trapped and sent elsewhere.

i like bears...i try not to think of them going extinct, it makes me mad

I like how the two bears in the first picture seem to be casually standing upright and engaging in some lively conversation.

That's adorable. :) I wonder if it'll be on the Cobert Report.

This is scary. My sister's kids have the exact playground... but in suburbia.
