Hi.
I read JTHM this week and instantly became a huge fan. The randomness, art style, philosophical-ness, blood, etc. I all found very appealing. Also unsettling, as I began to see one of my stuffed animals as having potential to turn into a good talking-buddy. I need to hold onto my sanity here.
Anyways, I was wondering if any action figures or just plain figures exist for this series, as I think they would be just plain awesome. If they don't I guess I'll have to go make my own then.
Thanks net buddies

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac action figures - do they exist?!?!?

Well, I've found plenty of clothing for JtHM on ebay and amazon but no actions figures... I believe there was a set made but they were limited edition and have since been discontinued although I can't recall for sure. Either way if there are any left out there they're few and far between. Wait... did you say make your own? 0.0

google DOESN'T. It's awful!
Neh.
Yeah, I did say make my own. I've wanted to make figures of several things, but only made a couple little dolls. Yep. I don't know. They might be difficult to balance... etc.
Thanks! I'll look some more on my own... just didn't know if it was futile to look. ;)

They made a Spooky action figure once. My friend had it. Man, I wish I could have bought one!

You just read it? Ugh, you've got some catching up to do. Go to amazon right now and purchase Squee, Everything Must Be Beaten, Jellyfist, i feel sick vol 1 and 2, Fillerbunny in My Worst Book Yet, The Bad Art Collection, and the Invader Zim box set.
To my knowledge (which is pretty extensive in all things Jhonen Vasquez related) there wasn't an official set of action figures for JTHM itself. There was a limited release set for Squee (vinyl plushies) which included the Squee version of Johnny as well as Mr. Fuck and Fillerbunny. I'm pretty sure you'll find hundreds of unofficial action figures on ebay but there's an entire series (I think they made three sets) of Invader Zim action figures. Any non Invader Zim clothing is most likely unofficial as JV isn't exactly a big fan of marketing.
Besides, Viacom makes sure to milk Invader Zim for all the ridiculous Hot Topic mall rats who think they're cool for wearing a bright green Zim T-shirt.

Hurgh, sorry for the no-replies...
I saw the spooky figure!!!! I want one for Christmas! ^_^
And angry_black_guy... who is apparently very angry... so-RRY for not reading this stuff. I'm always late on the uptake. Sailor Moon, Gorillaz... etc. All my previous obsessions seem to be about stuff I should have known about years before I ever did, so don't hassle me, OK? Better to see stuff late than never, I say.
I read I Feel Sick and I'm working on Squee, OK?
HOWEVER, thanks for the info- I shall go on the hunt. I know Vasquez dislikes -over-merchandizing, I just thought it would be cool if there were figures.

They have a Filler Bunny figure too, but it's not as nice as Spooky.
I used to love Jhonen Vasquez and his art--then I realized he was almost ten years younger than me, making way more money than me, and a really big a**hole. I hate a**hole artists....

I wasn't being serious (about being angry). I should have added a "lolz" or something in there.

He's 31 so that does that make you 41?
Anyways, he's not an asshole, he just loves his work and doesn't want to see it... "bastardized" for lack of a better word. This has happened to other prolific artists and writers like Alan Moore and Robert Crumb; they become so famous or have such a large group of fans that everyone holds them up on this high pedestal and worships them like Gods. At comic-cons, Vasquez would be hounded by goth geeks looking to get his signature and he had publishers trying to mass market his stuff through stupid t-shirts and coffee mugs. Nickelodeon pretty much killed all love he had for the animation business and swore to never work for a big publisher again unless he had complete creative control.
And I don't blame him. In the off chance that I become famous (lol like that'll happen) I would fight tooth and nail to keep stupid action figures off store shelves and I'd be pretty pissed if someone followed me into a bathroom stall for an autograph (which actually happened to Alan Moore).

Heehee! Fillerbunny!
And sorry... glad you're not angry... hurr.
And yeah, he does seem like an a-hole artist sometimes - people think he hates his fans, etc. I've read some of what he's said, though, and I think he's more surprised than contempt-ful. He's amazed people still like stuff he's long since stopped working on. And it would be annoying to have people saying the same things to YOU about a comic you did ten years ago, right? I would.
Plus, he doesn't really seem to like people in general. ^_^
The Zim figures aren't bad, though. Overpriced, yes. And they kind of got Zim... wrong. Which is important, as he's... ZIM. But some of the figures are priceless... like the laughing Robo-dad... that one always gets me...
And I am actually working on the figures! What size you all think is good - 14 inches for Nny, or 20? He's gotta be big since... his tiny limbs would be hell to joint tiny size. I REALLY wanna make Senor Diablo too. So in that same scale... 22, or 33 inches???? Too huge?
Rrrhg scale models...
I gots one of the 2 figures I did awhile ago up on my deviantart page if anyone's interested - Bonesey of the Gorillaz. :P

there were no jthm figures ever made, and there probably won't be. the ship has sailed and it's merely a curiosity for slave labor press now.
that and i think valsquez or wadsqueeze or whatever that guy's name is hates that series by now, considering it's probably the #1 biggest source of stupid fantard hat email he has. still. they still send him hatemail threatening his life if he ever stops writing it.
....he stopped like, a decade ago.
What?

I Feel Sick is far superior to JTHM.
Just a nice, intelligent, cogent, contained little piece of work that you can really identify with. :)
Compared to that JTHM is pretty immature.

What a bizarre way to bring a topic back... a guy necroposts after 2 years something completely unrelated so to advertise his comic and no one misses a beat. Wiggy!
I loved I Feel Sick. Devi was a great character. The rest of his work seems a bit overrated.

"You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process," he added. "That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle."
