One of the things that intrigues me about this site is that it's "all comics" unlike deviant art....however, it seems like anytime i try to take an interest in the comics of others i notice that alot of them seem to be interesting art without a overall story, or just an entire page of fan art with no comic storyline at all.

For example just now i looked at the top 7 most recent pages and comic story updates and all of them are either artwork, short flash animation without a story, or fan art with no story. I checked their back catalogue and it was mostly the same.

Like I said I like that this site is dedicated to comics but it seems to me that there's alot of peoples comics floating out there in a category they really don't belong in.

Maybe a 3rd category to encompass these non-story or non-strip oriented drawings could be created for fan art and random unpolished scraps could be created?

while i love the fan art that was made for me i would never clutter up my storyline with it or filler. if i had enough fan art and filler i would start a second comic for it and call it superteam fan art and filler.

My comic is actually a comic. I even go so far as to have the inside cover, the inside back page, and the back page.
Besides in issue 6 you will never see a filler from me. I have a random art comic for that. Issue 6 will get one to help build some suspense.

My comic is a hyrbid or regular comic books and comic strips. Its very much a web comic more than either. The idea being that its a parody of a bad web comic. If its me being smart and lowbrow at the same time or as some argue if I'm making that up as an excuse for what some see as being bad content, its entirely up to people that read it.

I put fanart in my comic sometimes, but only at the end of chapters so I can take a break. Updating four times a week can be a killer!

Yeah, I'm also doing the one or two fillers after a chapter -thing. I like fillers (like sketches, character design, fan-art etcetera) but usually people tend to drop them between actual pages. Wich is quite annoying.

I'm not sure about the "storyline" angle you mentioned.

At the moment my comic doesn't really have a storyline per se. It has punchlines. I am planning a story arc eventually, but for the moment it consists of single situations. But it is defintely a comic even without a storyline. :)

But I have noticed some "comics" here that are just basically sketchbooks too. While I, as an artist, appreciate people sharing their artwork, I'm also not sure it is appropriate to have it labeled as a comic, or to be on the site. Unless there was a third category added which was simply called "artwork". I think that would be a nice addition, since we don't want to shun the artists, but it would remove the confusion of "where's the comic?" :)

Rocketship A Go-Go is a comic strip. It has storylines and ounchlines - sometimes both. Someone recently gave a me a lovely piece of fan art, but I have not had the heart to break my format by putting it up. I may start a separate "Rocketship A Go-Go sketchbook" for that purpose.

Bulletproof is definitely a comic. One "page" is the cover for the first issue, so I guess that doesn't qualify as an actual sequential page, but everything else is comics. The reason you're seeing so much non-comic material is that people produce filler stuff when they don't have any comic pages to keep their update schedule going. So far, I haven't had to do that myself, and frankly, I'd rather take a breather between storyarcs than clutter things up with filler pages. I've thought about doing Marvel-type character profiles in between issues to keep things going, but we'll see.

Wolf is a comic. There is no filler except for an announcement or two I feel I want to share. So from 60 something pages, one is filler XD heheh! I have another site for all fanart purposes.

Hehe, I feel like that too, but I try really hard to pace myself so I'm not rushing the pages. It's torture. XD

I've only got two art pages so far out of the 38 I've loaded. The first was so I'd have SOMETHING up when I got my account a month before anything was ready, and another's positioned between chapters (and won't show for a good 3 weeks). I'd hate to interrupt the flow within a chapter.
That's mostly because I don't have very much besides the comic that's of a quality to put up, but I also don't want to clutter up my archives with page after page of non-story shinies. If someone had a huge clump of fanart (I'd love to get some T_T) instead of proper updates it'd really put me off reading, so I'm not going to do it with mine. It kinda says, "I can't think of any more plot right now so here's a character in a bikini." XD
The occasional extra, however, is a nice touch. ^_^

Inbetween chapters for me if any filler. I rarely even do holiday art. If I post a filler in a chapter for some reason, when the next page comes I delete the filler.

100% comic here. I don't really mind filler art, but it's true some people use it way too often...

My comic is a comic, only thing that might count as "filler" is the occasional Omake...but even that is a comic.

My comic is a web comic. I did post up two fillers in the past but that was because I was on vacation at the time.

Mine is a comic. =p I don't like fillers at all, so the chances of one ever showing up in PT are slim to none. If a page is going to be late for some reason, I usually just edit the description on the most current page.

Not only is my comic really a comic ... I just got copies of it delivered to my doorstep from the printer's the other day. I'll be selling it at the Baltimore Comic Con September 8th and 9th!
