Well, yesterday I got a comment from somebody, and it was critcism, I took it well, but I'm not sure if I should just start over, or keep going.

I already finished 31 pages to the Prologue, I mean, I'm more than halfway than I planned. But I'm not sure if the story is getting out the way people want it to.

I could always re-make pages. But I'm just curious.
*I'm also considering coloring all the pages*

Hmm, well I won't go into specifics or give you a review or anything, but on a general level...
If you are dissatisfied with the comic, then sure. Start over. OR you can keep going, try a new thing every couple updates, play around with different mediums, try a new panel layout, spend a few updates really focusing on backgrounds or setting...
For me, my comic is one big learning experience, and I don't want to go back and change anything (even though the art in the beginning makes me want to cry) - and I've gotten criticism in the comments, too. But I LIKE it. The fact that someone puts in the time to give you feedback means they care about the story which is a big plus and pat on the back to you.
So take the feedback into consideration - if you agree with one or two or all of the points, make an effort to change them in your *upcoming* pages. But personally, I wouldn't start over.

Yeah I was thinking about that.

But do you think If I were to just redo a few pages, and change my wording, and how I did things to make it more understandable, and color it, AND make the art better, do you think it'd be a better comic?

Thanks so much for the help!

The only way I would redo a whole comic is if I thought of a new better story that my current story could simply never become. Or if I thought the story was unbelievably unclear to the readers and for some reason really thought I could pull a 180 and redo it for clarification purposes.

That's just me though. Artwise I use it as practice, constantly trying new things each page and especially each issue. My early work is crap. My current work is... well... a better crap =p Tolerable, but I need to get better.

Any and all artistic/story feedback is a godsend. Always at least open your mind to what the person said. You never know what neat new trick you could learn experimenting with it.

Anyway, it's up to you. I've seen spectacular artists restart because they said their older art was not up to par.

Read "The Devon Legacy".

Thanks for the comments you two!

Anyway, I've figured out I'm just going to re-do it, I mean, it's not like I have THAT much to remake. Only a Prologue.

And I'm only scripting the 7th page right now, and it's turning out a LOT better. Like the way I wanted it to be in the first place.

SO. Admins/Mods, you can either keep this topic open for other webcomic artists, or close it. Whatever your will is. :)

gah! too late for me to check out this comic.

As much as possible, DO NOT RESTART comics.

I still have my old old crappy pages. Never restarted.
NOW UPDATING!!!

Don't listen to criticism from just anyone. Some people aren't as smart as others.

Well, I chose to re-do it. It's coming out great though! And it only spans 8 pages. So I don't have to do THAT much work.

And now it's going the way I want it. So it's all good :)

Plus, it's been a good learning experience.

Well, you already made your decision, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in anyway ^^.

I restarted my comic, and I'm glad I did it. The story is much more coherent and clear, and the art is about 100 times better. There definitely are reasons for restarting a comic. Don't do it on a whim, though. Think about it and ask yourself questions - like "Why do I want to restart? Is it the story? Art?", "What are the pros of restarting? What are the cons?", "Am I willing to do the work of rebuilding a good portion of my previous fanbase?" That's the one way my comic was hurt by restarting - it was in the top 100, now it's just hovering around the top 500-ish. I do have some awesome people who waited for AF to restart again, though, as well as some great new fans of the comic. :]
