That's what I tried to say but apparently according to Abt_Nihil and Skulbie it makes me a know -it-all...? :P

Haha! Sorry, what I meant was: It's not nice to just dismiss a whole lot of thoughtful contributions to this discussion as having gotten the whole point wrong :P

Yeah, they are valid to a different point, true- JillyFoo misunderstood Shadowmyst and so put the question the way she did and people answered that question... In a fairly expected way, it has to be said.
I suppose that's what I was reacting to more than anything- Shadowmyst had become the strawman in this instance, set up with that weak position to be knocked down with easily made, "valid points".

So, that's why I phrased it as I did. But maybe I should have said what I've written here instead? I just hadn't considered it that carefully back then.
Sorry for any offence :(

I'm sorry or any offense, Ozone. I started the conversation in hopes of expanding the writing for an audience conversation on the Quackcast because I found it very interesting. In the first post I tryed to put forth ideas for both sides. I wasn't trying to be bias for any side or trying to put down Shadowmyst. In fact I thought she didn't tell enough on the subject and wanted her to clarify on some parts. (I'm glad she did here. :) )
If anything I thought this would help promote the quackcast and give people an excuse to listen. Thanks for the posts guys. ;)

When I draw and write my comic, I do it for myself... With webcomics people tend to lurk and read without commenting until they see something terribly wrong with your work or can suggest a few things to make it better. On my comic(s) I am always open for suggestions and with that your audience can be somewhat created.

I write what I wanna write.

I draw what I wanna draw.

Anyone don't like it they can screw off, go read VG cats.

...which is probably why no one ever reads my comics...

I'm glad I'm basing my comics on my own entertainment.

It's why I started. I created ideas to fill in the gaps left in my entertainment. I'd yet to see something that completely enthralled me... Being a bloodthirsty ten year old does that to you.
I was never fully satisfied with the end product of my earliest comics until I made more and more changes over the years.
I'm still not finished with the adjustments but hey, if I had just churned it out then it would've been a confusing mess with magical discs that need to be collected otherwise the world will end, diabetic vampires, aliens, seven siblings representing the seven deadly sins, Canadian teenage assassins and six-eyed flying sharks.

Sure, it sounds awesome, especially from a 12 year old, but in the end after every book I wrote I kept wanting to improve and change things.

Now it's a.... I dunno what the hell it is now! But it's still not ready.
Good thing I've not really changed much of it since 2007 otherwise what I have up now would be false advertising.

Call that jumped up metal rod a knife?
Watch mine go straight through a kevlar table, and if it dunt do the same to a certain gaixan's skull in my immediate vicinity after, I GET A F*****G REFUND! BUKKO, AH?!

I honestly believe if you have strong concept planned, it may take a while, but the audience will realize it's potential after a while. I still think once you get an idea of what the audience is looking forward to maybe ad some teasers & stuff but never change the concept in it's entirety. I guess the only problem is figuring out what parts of the comic your audience likes which is pretty hard until they directly express it.
