Duh.

It's fake, or so say the people on the Snopes Urban Legends message board. I think their consensus was that it was shopped using a photo of someone's hand (obviously) and a photo of sea lamprey's mouths. Personally, I agree - it looks like lamprey mouths.

Still, that is one super creepy image.

All you have to do is think of what's inside your fingertips. You have thick skin, muscle tissue, and a very pointy bone. If you opened up your fingers there and dug a hole that deep, you'd find bone would fill that space. Besides, even if you took out all the bone, the flesh is full of blood. It's quite true that flesh is white with no blood in it at all but in that case there it's be quite darkly red, even when it was all crusty and dead. And as for the inside... well it's not all neatly patterned like that.
