I dunno the proper place to make this thread, so I made it here.

Anyway.... I have this friend who in a little bit of a bind regarding money or something. She makes Commissioned custom-made plushies for people, and she was asking me if I knew any people who would be interested.

So I'm asking for her--Are anybody here who might be interested in having her make them custom-made plushies? After all, there's some people who would love plushies of their own characters here, right?

I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

If I could actually afford such an investment, I'd definitely ask. I get enough people bothering me about it.

Same here with me - I'd do it if I could afford it! :)

Sadly, though, no one's bothered me about making plushies...
By the time you finish this, you'll have read it. :3

Just draw a face on a pillow and sell it as memorabilia.

I'd be interested if I saw some of the plushies she's made, and what she normally charges.

Hand-made plush toys likely cost a wee bit more than $5 to make there. Take into account materials, time and labour, plus appropriate $$$ for the skill! In addition, I imagine part of it is how complex is your character and how easily the character translates to 3D and plushie form.

$50, MINIMUM for a teddy-bear sized plushie at least I would imagine. If the plushies are of good quality, I think I might make the investment. I know a few people who would love a Moxy plushie (a character of mine not currently on DD)

Well, I talked with her... and I managed to get some a picture off her of a plushies she made.

Sorry, it's very low in quality as she had to use her key-chain camera instead of her usual camera.

Basically, she said that for starting materials and such, the price is usually around 35 dollars. and that the more complex the plushies becomes, it's higher in cost... especially if you wanted something besides felt fabric.

I have a sewing machine, so I could make my own... Except that I'd need to practice my tailoring (for now I can only do basic repairs on my clothes...)

Howdy.

I'm the friend that Aurora Moon's been helping by posting this thread. To answer a few of the questions;

Yes, I can do humans. They're the only thing that hasn't been mutilated horribly beyond all recognition when I've attempted to make plushies (I have a no-pattern-used Pikachu head plush that I could show, but it looks like a Pikachu bred with Lamb Chop).

As for picture quality, unfortunately, that's as good as it gets, for the time being. I don't have a good quality digital camera (that's compatible with my computer) and the only digital camera I do have (the itty bitty dinky digital camera on a key chain), takes bad quality pictures (as Aurora Moon showed. The picture shown above is only one of three pictures I took of the plushie (made from 90% felt, 10% material I'm not too sure what it's called other than I'm sure it's made from polyester). If I could take better pictures, I would... My only option right now is to take pictures with a disposable camera, wait for the film to get developed and then have a photo processing center put the pictures onto a CD. If I were to have enough orders of plushies come through, then I might be able to afford a digital camera to suit my needs. The following are the other two pictures.

Okay. Thanks to elbow macaroni, I have a better camera to take pictures with. So here are hopefully better example links of what I can do.

Abenti,

If you could email me about doing some more plushies, I'm interested in a pretty big commission. I sent you a PQ (private message here) with details and my email address.

Thanks! :)

Hmm, looks good, I may be interested in this. But I've been saving up for a nice digital camera. Maybe after I get the camera...

If my characters weren't all stick figures, I'd take you up on it.

Which might mean it's time to actually create a mascot.

Hey, this IS a pretty cool idea... I would definitely do something like this a few years down the road when my comic was more established and I had more loose change. But I think ya came to the right place, Abenti, a lot of people seem interested. :)

It would appear so. Hopefully when I'm done with the commission I just received, there would be more than just interest. :)

As long as shipping and handling can be covered with anything we work out, I don't see why not.

I am intrigued, though I already have a friend of mine doing a plushie-version of one of my characters.
That's "Dr. BlkKnight" to all of you.

I would love that...except for the whole impoverished art major deal I have going. Got to keep up my reputation. and keep my funds down in exchange. If that weren't the case though, I would be all over plushies of my characters.

I think I could make my Red Point characters myself. They're really simple figures. But if I fail, I shall come to you.
