I thought Peter David's Green Intelligent Hulk with attitude was the Ultimate Hulk:
7 feet tall, green, decent hairstyle and great lines!

So of course they changed writers, had him go insane over Betty's death and get separated into Banner and mindless killer Hulk by John Byrne. Great art, huge pointless battles and no plot...WOOHOO!!!

I'm going to go against popular opinion and let you know my secret. I like smart Hulk the best.

When the Hulk was grey, the comic had some pretty damn good dialogue. Even when he was smart (Banner's mind) and green and leader of the pantheon, I thought that series was great too.

There's only so much you can so with "HULK SMASH" before it gets stale. I like to see the Hulk become a more complex character. ;)

That said, there will never be a grey Hulk movie. It would just be Hellboy.
