After The Simpsons made the switch to HD so did their theme. In my opinion it's better than the previous one, but last night's episode sucked.

I miss that show soooo much :(

Oh. When you said the theme changed, I thought you meant the music. I was all "What the hell? They can't do that!" But all they did was upgrade the animation and modernize a bit.

I really like the new starting. I used to be a huge Simpsons fan. But when you have a show thats been around 20 years its time to just let it go.

Yeah at times I think that's true, but other times I think, wow, this show is as old as I am. I've watched it my entire life. I hope it lives forever.

Plus I thought the episode was good...

Sure was allot of stuff happening compared to the old one. Technically this is not the first time they changed the intro. They changed it after (or during) first season although very slightly. Fixed the clouds, added Burns to the background in the power plant, Bart used to steal a bus stop sign causing the bus to drive past people waiting to take it, stuff like that.

I like how this new one is not a total revamp...they just made small changes here and there. Nice.

brilliantly funny if you are a simpsons fan with tons of inside jokes....boring and way too fucking long if you arent.

I really like it. It's the same old opening only in incorporates the much larger population of springfield better.

I'm interested to see if anything's different in the next episode, like it's cletus that pokes up out of the manhole instead of hans moleman, or something like that.

God, I miss that show...

I thought the episode itself was one of the better ones I'd seen in a while. I will say the ending was kind of half-assed, though. And for some reason it seemed like it had way more commercials than normal; but maybe my perspective's been skewed by TiVo.

I could take or leave the new intro. I mean, it was good, but there wasn't anything that made me scream, "My God, that's brilliant!" I don't have HD, though. Maybe that's the difference. ;)

We still don't get that season here on Ecuador...but looks pretty cool...

The show is still my favorite, I know that is not that funny anymore, specially compared to Futurama, but I can help it...I'm in denial...

Holy crap. I just stopped paused through the entire fast slide just before homer parks his car and God and the Devil are duking it out over there.

Yeah, I haven't watched that show for a long time simply because the humor got so dry and boring. I think it got old around the third season or so.

I really enjoyed the new changes to the intro, with all its inside gags, and they made it kind of exciting to watch the Simpsons again.... well, that is, until the couch gag, when it turned right back into the old tired unfunny Simpsons we've been dealing with for the last couple of years. The rest of the episode wasn't that great. Aside from being in HD it was pretty much on par with this past season.

The couch gag almost epitomized what has become of the series... It went on too long and wasn't even funny because we've seen too much of it already.

You mean the third season that marked the first time the Simpsons was actually of any quality and which is generally treated like a first season because most people tend to want to forget about the first two?

There's a good point in here. The Simpsons have been with us for so long that most of us have been raised with these episodes being around. It's basically become the distant uncle that frequently visits us and makes the same boring jokes that we can't help not to appreciate because we used to laugh at them when we were kids.

I can appreciate that I used to love this show when I was a child. What I can't appreciate is how bland, unfunny and self referential the show became.

God, that openings awful. At least the old ones over quickly, like ripping a plaster off.

I thought last night's episode was pretty fantastic. One of the best episodes they've done in a while.
