Literally.

Today I was running into Taco Bell, and this crazy driver pulled out as I was crossing the parking lot and nearly ran me over at 5mph!

I was hyper, so I guess I thought it was funny since I had been laughing a moment before, and I laughed all the way into Taco Bell to tell my father.

I know it's not much of a laughing matter, getting hit by a car, but if you're in a good mood, and realize you didn't get injured at all, you may be happy too.

Anyone else have a crazy day?

actually thats a normal reaction for me. when something bad happens i.e trip fall down, hit my head, or get a cut i laugh it off.

laughing makes me feel better. releases dopamines and it makes you look like a psycho in front of people.

Shock and adrenaline can also make you react in that sort of way. If you're not careful, the laugh can turn into hysteria... Then someone will have to slap you like they do in all those TV comedy shows and comics. lol!

Yeah, literally that's what it means, but literally words like cretin refer to someone from Crete (old term for it), so we tend to go by common modern accepted meanings instead...

That is funny though, a lot of insults are terms for people from other places:
Philistine- currently soemeone without taste. Originally someone from Philistine: old Palestine.
Troglodyte or Trog- Currently "cave dweller". Originally someone from a small place in Tunisia where they used to live cave homes to get away from the heat...
Cretin- Currently term for a fool, or someone with an intelligence bellow a certain amount. Originally Someone from Crete.
Mongoloid- Currently someone with the facial genetic deformities associated with Downs syndrome. Originally someone who looked like a "Mongol", or the central Asian peoples who have that part European/part Asian look about them.

Laughing's common for scenarios of high stress. Last winter when I was working outside pushing carts it got so frustrating at some points working in the snow that I started laughing for no reason, as if I considered it an insane challenge of some sort.

wow you handled that way better than i would've. I would have slammed my fist down on the hood of his car and yelled "watch where the fuck youre going!" or the classic "im walking here!"
