How many people have marked your comic as a favorite?

I am pretty new here. I have only been here about 2 weeks or so, and I am just trying to get some knowledge of favorites. How many would be considered good, for a brand new comic? 3? 5? 10? I'm sure there is a thread for this, but I can't seem to find it.
Thanks!!

I tend to use comics' RSS feeds now instead of favourites. Either that or I'll remember the URL and just use the url autocomplete to get back to it. But the RSS is great.

As for favourites I reckon that considering how good your comic is, whatever number favourites you have would already be well above average.

Is there a way to tell how many people have made your comic a favorite? I may just not be understanding the question. All I've known to go on is the stat-o-meter, which is confusing.
I'm also at a loss as to what an RSS feed is and agree that Engine deserves to be hugely favorited by users.

http://www.drunkduck.com/downloads.php I think this is what you'd use. I don't use it myself since I don't have an active comic, and I use Linux instead of Windows.

People set up RSS (real simple syndication - did I get that wrong? If so, please correct me) in order to get notification of updates without getting emailed or going to that site. I couldn't be of much more help than that since I don't really use RSS except on my Google homepage.

As for the average amount of favorites, I have no idea. I suspect mine's kinda low on the totem pole in the numbers game - I'd say so long as your readership is supportive, then you're good ^.^

I had about 5 for my first four months (including me and a couple friends ^^; ). I have around 50 now.

I agree that Engine should have a fairly high number because it's really GOOD, but it also takes some time for you to get noticed/established -- you know, for people to see your comic.

Back when I still had the alerter, it was about 75 people, but that was last year. I've since switched to Mac, so no alerter for me no mo'. I think pageviews are a more accurate representation of how many people read your stuff anyway as favorites only reflect the number of registered DD members that are reading it. Judging by my PV to comment ratio, the vast majority of my readership probably isn't registered here.

If you want to know how you're doing compared to other comics - that's what the rankings are for. You can go to "browse" and limit it to the genre you're in. Although based on what I've read on the forums here, the gap between the top rated comics and the ones that are doing reasonably well is enormous. Bulletproof is in the top 10 in the superhero genre, and I get about 900 PVs on an update day these days, I seem to recall Pinky TA gets five figures every single day.

I started off very slowly till gaining maybe 1-3 a day till' I got a feature which skyrockets them. Fav's are hard to get, but remember it's a somewhat limited audience on DD that actually uses the accounts for faving-So I don't think it's good indicator of actual readership at all.

I have 624 now- but my first 2 months were super slow-and now people cannot un-fav comic so it adds up.

For people that have macs/can't use it do this: ask a trusted admin if they'll look into it for you.(you need your username and password) Since they have no motivation to ruin your comic and could anyhow. ;)

Yeah, I just asked ozone myself. When I asked him about a month ago I had 14, but the vast majority of my readership aren't DD members.

And there is a massive difference between the average comic and the top ones. To even get into the top 25 strips you need at least 1500 pageviews per day. There's an even bigger gap with the top 10 from there.

It's over 3500-4000 just for a #25 spot.
Don't think this is daunting though, if you buy a good advertisement you could easily gain that many.^^

I was just talking strips not anything else. My biggest day was 1600 and it put me at #22. Maybe I just got lucky that day. Who knows.

And actually the DD pageviews system might be somewhat inaccurate. My Project Wonderful counter usually reports only about half of what the DD stat counter does and I don't know exactly how to say which is more accurate of individual unique hits.

353 for Nadya (Looks like I got one more yesterday)...

Purgatory Tower's got close to a thousand, or something. I'm just trying to figure out how to get the other 600. :)

Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.

Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.

You know, I've never bothered to check until now and I've been here almost a year.

I'm pleasantly surprised though - For BOTH vehicles:

Better Luck Next Time has 30 favs.

BLNT:Synchronicity has 8 favs.

That's more (for both) than I thought - If it weren't for work, I'd reward these people with four updates a week!

To those who faved me - Thank you, so much! Really. Thank you.

I've been wondering about that. Frankly, the idea that over a thousand people read Bulletproof blows my fragile little mind.

That's actually not true. I was in the top 25 strips for a couple of weeks and I only got about 800-900 views...

We can't. They don't love us. DX

I have the alerter set up on my parents' computer, and I check back whenever I can. Last I checked, Faust had around 230 and Chimera had 107.

I had no more than 10 favs for like the first 60 or so pages haha

I just kept on working and trying to improve/tell the story. Now I currently have 122 favs which astounds me!

I hope that means I have improved that much, but I figure most of it is due to my networking.

I hope to continue producing better and better work for any fans I may have. What was a mere hobby became so much more because of all the support.

I can't tell everyone how much it means for people to like my comic I have worked so many years on! Thank you all that faved me and read my comic!!!

Read "The Devon Legacy".

pageview=EVERY comic page clicked
Therefore if one person reads through your entire comic, lets say 40 pages, you will get 40 hits.

I know that, but I have very clear spikes in my PVs on update days now, whereas it used to be more evenly spread; I assume that means the readership has kind of settled and there aren't as many new people coming in anymore. I mean, I'm sure this doesn't mean the number of PVs translates directly to readers, if enough people go back to look at the previous page because they can't remember what happened, that would distort the numbers enough, but I also find it unlikely that a dozen people would come by on a given day, read the entire archive and then never come back... I dunno, it would be nice if there was an IP based statistic as well.
