On DD, how many comments have you made on other peoples' comics?
(If you don't know how to check go to My Account, and it is in the Karma Box.)
Do you normally comment on the comics you read?

I always try to comment on every comic I read (even if just a blank 5(I know, I can be a 5 whore)), and I have 3,217 comments.

I try to comment on every update of my favorites. I've also left some comments in archives. I wish I had the time to follow more comics. :(

Okay, I don't comment that much but I'm getting better. I used to not comment at all. Sometimes I have to close the window quickly because I read most comics at work and technically I'm not supposed to be online and then I forget to go back.

I never start commenting until I've read through a comic's archive because I don't like talking about something I don't know about and I never post comments unless I actually have something to say about it. So I don't have many comments because I haven't had enough time to get through all the comic archives I have favorited.

1,072 comments left so far.

I try to leave a comment on every favorite comic's update. But sometimes(especially on my work weekends) I get behind.

I know how encouraging comments are and want to make sure the author's of the comics I read feel that! It's the least I can do to thank them for their hard work!

The only ones I get like that are usually on previous pages than the current and they're few and far in between.

I suppose I should start leaving a few more myself.

1161 as of now. It's about double the amount of comments I received. Used to maintain a steady 3:1 ratio, before - but that was when I was reading more dailies.

And like Midge, I always try to say *something* about the page rather than leave a blank 5. Sometimes I end up writing little novellas lol!

608 - I'm not as good at commenting as I would like to be, but I don't like leaving a comment just for commenting's sake; I want to be able to say something more than "Great page!" and a random five.

I would've made more comments over my time here, but I was shy about commenting in the beginning.

I want to leave more than fluff as well. I think I've given a blank 5 like maybe 3 times at most.

Sometimes I just can't think of anything useful to say, I usually try to comment on something relative to the story. I know I really enjoy readers that participate in the story.
If my mind totally will not function I have been known to leave fluff at times, merely telling an author they did a good job and/or pointing out what I like most. Mostly just to show the author I am still reading and enjoying their comic.

I know I can afford to miss a few updates, and I do miss commenting on some of them... but I feel a bit bad as if I'm not supporting my fellow artists work that I enjoy.

Read "The Devon Legacy".

totally agree! :) I think leaving at least a 5 actually lets the artist know who their audience is and encourages them. I know it does for me. I don't care if someone is an excellent artist or up and coming one or someone just learning to draw, each of us appreciates the little bit of recognition. Some people feel they need to leave something more, but you know sometimes its okay to say nothing and thats where just a 5 or, what ever score have you, works. We are a community of artists and comments are where we can connect, critique, compliment, and support each other as we develop as artists. :)

I have 424. I thought it would be less. I usually have a hard time finding things to say. Maybe I'll try harder -

I've only got 714. I like to comment on every new page, once I finish the archives, of a comic. I've never just left a hollow 5, and always manage to find something to say about the page in question. Even if it's just "Nice page" or "Still going strong". I like to let the author know I care and enjoy the comic.
