I dunno. It seems like a lot of people wait for someone to comment on their comic and in return they comment on theirs. Do others notice this? I try to comment on all comics and the ones I really like I have on my fav list which is HUGE.
So yeah, do people think this as well?

I comment mostly on my favorite list just because I don't, unfortunately, have time to go through and comment on every single comic on the site, lol. It doesn't usually have anything to do with whether or not the person has commented on my comic first, although I do find a lot of my favorites through people's comments. Otherwise it's just random browsing and clicking on comics that have an interesting-looking thumbnail.

I comment pretty honestly. And when I rate, I only give out either 5's or nothing at all. This way it doesn't bring their score down if I have something to really critique about it. Aaand... I did that once because the comic posted was about the size of a stamp(I don't flame. I said it was too small to read and left no rating) and I'm not going to rate something I can't read... and the rest got me pretty pissed off. The whole comment only if they comment first is pretty freaking annoying in my book thanks to this-- although it does get a pageview for your own comic now and then, some people are probably figuring they should return the favor and have no interest in reading what you have at all.

I try to comment on everyone that comments on my comic, but next to that I also try to comment a lot on my favorites and many other comics I find. In other words: I comment whenever on whatever I want to comment.

I comment on my favourites first ofcourse :3. Then I return comments to whoever gave me a comment on my comic :3 Then I look through the list of updated comics for that day, and if I read something interesting, I'll rate them a 5. If something really stands out about their comic, i'll say it ^.~ I don't really find myself giving constructive criticism much, but if I see something that needs fixing, i'll tell em that too :3

I actually comment via the forum. If someone makes an interesting post I go check out their comic and leave them props. :D I comment my fav list but it's so small since I haven't had time to go out a check out new comics. Hopefully that'll change after the summer. ^_^

When someone comments my page, I sometimes look at their page. This is if I like their avatar, or they have said something so crazy, perverted, and/or insane about my comic and I feel their comic may be just as awesome. I'll just look at it, though. Doesn't mean I'll comment. Unless I love it so much, I must comment on the last page. And mega fav. (Actually, lately, I have been saying 'ultima fav'.) So, yeah. If someone asks me to comment their comic, I'll just ignore it... I don't wanna be rude, it's just the fact that I feel as if they ask EVERYONE to comment them, no matter who it is.
Uh... Yeah.
Also, I love to see people in the forums and check out their comics. It's great :D
I look at the most recent, too. If it has an interesting title, sure :)

I hate the fact people only ever rate comics as fives. There are millions of pages out there that never deserved to be fives. More people would actually comment if they felt they could freely give an accurate score to the comic they were reading.

I'm sort of testing commenting waters. I've left, um, 6 total so far.
I'm pretty quiet but if I read something and a comment comes to mind, I'll make it. No one leaves me comments ( I'm sorta glad. They might not be pleasant -- even I'm embarassed by most of my early "art" ), so when I do get one, I always check out comics, but I don't push myself to comment unless I actually have something to say.
Oh, and I like to check out comics of people who seem cool in the forums. As usual, I'll comment if I have something to say.

I generally only comment if I have something to say. I always look at the comics of people that comment on mine, but I don't necessarily leave a comment back.

Generally, when I'm commenting, I'm not even looking at the comics I comment on. I just do it for the free plug.
A few comics that have authors who've been friendly to me, I do actually check out. But the fact is 90% of my comments are all bullshit.

When I get through their archives, I comment on their newest page. Then when I read as they update, I post on the new page. I do it more for support. Comments keep me going, so I assume they do the same for everyone else. You want updates? You comment.

Well If I really like a comic I'll comment and tell them why! it doesn't work just to say "hey, cool comic"
why is it cool?
So I try to say why I like or dislike the comic thus far, plus I think it helps people to tell em that there doing a good job, the result. More comics from them and they tend to be better. So yeah, I comment as much as possible ^^

Well, I am supposed to be sitting here teaching myself HTML, but when I get bored, I'll puruse through comics. I comment if I like them. I don't expect comments back. (Which is a good thing, 'cause I don't get 'em.)

I comment on my faves and random comics that seem interesting.
Sometimes I don't comment on the very popular comics in my faves that get many comments per update. I feel like what's said has already been said.
The lesser known comics I tend to comment on every update. Sometimes to the point of going back and commenting on the missed pages.

In general I'll comment on comics that I like. Though I appreciate people who comment on my comics and I'll usually try to say something about theirs... just seems like good manners. The bummer is that sometimes I'll end up reading a comic that's difficult to comment on (generally I like to point out things that stand out as especially cool or try to give good advice,) at a loss of what to say I'll just not say anything.
