scan it in LINEART mode. Usually it says "black and white text" or "black and white picture".

I don't know what progrom you use but with paintshop pro I find adjusting the contrast and darkness gets rid of most line art related problems.

Step by step:

1) Get a chainsaw (or a saw if you're cheap)

2) Use chainsaw to carefully sever the arms and legs. Make sure arms are chopped into 3 parts and legs chopped into 4 parts each.

3) Once chopped, get a big sack of rice.

4) Eat the rice.

5) Don't throw the sack.

6) Open the big sack of rice.

7) Pick up and put the body parts into the sack one by one

8) Place sack with body parts inside a freezer...

9) Wait for 1 day

10) Take out the sack with body parts

11) Put it in the trunk of your car

12) Drive at least to the next state....

13) Find a house.

14) Make sure nobody is in the house.

15) Unload the body parts in the backyard of the chosen house.

If you're in Photoshop, increase contrast or play with levels sliders to make greys disappear. Or magic wand the black inks and copy and paste to separate layer, fill a third layer under the inks with white. That way you still have the original scan in background for reference.

Anyways, I don't draw myself, but I know that there's those blue leadfree pencils that don't get picked up by the scanner. So like, you draw the lines with the pencil, ink the lines you need and scan it, and the pencils won't be seen. Something like that.

You people and you body disposal issues. Sheesh! It's not rocket science after all. But seriously folks . . . eh, what?

There are many tutorials floating around telling people how to clean up scanned line art Puff-of-Smoke and if you click on the tab right above the forums window that says Tutorials you are probably going to find one or two that will tell you just what you need to know.

But basically once you've scanned in an image you can clean up a great many not-quite-erased lines by kicking up your Adjust Color Curves and pulling the upper end of the line further upwards with your mouse for a lighter setting, which will make most of the erasure marks vanish, and then pulling the lower end of the line further downwards to redarken the remaining lines.

But there are many other ways to clean up grayscale and black and white work other than using the Adjust Color Curves feature. So seriously, do look over DrunkDuck's tutorials and see what methodology works best for you and your work habits. Best of good fortune to you!
