So I'm constantly looking at my stats page every chance I get to see if any changes have occurred. I'm often excited and baffled by what I find there!
How is the ranking calculated? Is it average views per day? Average comments?
If anyone has some information on this, I would love to learn more!
Cheers
Frank

I believe it's just a matter of pageviews calculated over a certain time period. Something like 3 days?

so my 250 in one day was why I soared up into the top 1000. I thought it might be average # of comments per page too.

I've never fully grasped that concept. (unique pageviews)
Basically it stops someone from refreshing over and over again? Meaning if I had like 30 comics, a unique visitor could only get 30 maximum pageviews themselves? Thanks!

johlinIf by "comics" you mean separate distinct comics that you've added to your user account, all with their own pages etc.? Then yes :)

But if by "comics" you mean "comic pages" for your one comic account, then no. Each unique visitor just counts as a single hit each day they visit, no matter how many pages the comic has.
And, yep- it's to stop that thing with reloads and such.

Cool this makes more sense now. I was always confused when one day I would get x number of views which happened to be more than my average BUT I would still go down in the rankings. It was because the ranking is based on the average over the last 3 or so days, not the total average. The unique views things also clarifies another mystery.
Thanks gents, lets all visit each others comics once and grow together!!

I was guessing that this was how it was done, but I'm glad to see it clarified for me.

I just kinda went with it, but that's handy to know. I'm gonna go link myself on Facebook to boost my ranking then! ;)

Hi sorry stupid question :p Where do we find our rankings?
Aw, that's not a stupid question, it is well buried after all :)
You go to the "My comics" tab to the right, click the "i" on the far right, and it'll bring up your comic account, and the farthest tab to the right is "stats".
That's where you'll be finding your ranking!

I'd just like to know how popular the comic ranking tells you your comic is?
How many comics are currently ON DD?
That would tell you if being in the top 1000 means your comic is one of the popular comics or not!

meemjarYou can work that out by clicking the browse tab and seeing the number underneath:
How many comics are currently ON DD?
page one of 652. 23 comics per page, means there's about 14996 or just under.
That's comics with 2 or more pages.
If you include the number of comics with one page or 0 pages then it's over 20k
meemjarnot really... It depends more on how the readership is shared. I couldn't really tell you how it is, because even though I know, it would be rude of me to disclose how many readers comics in the top 100 get. That's up to the individual comic creators.
That would tell you if being in the top 1000 means your comic is one of the popular comics or not!
But as a general hint it's pretty exponential: The top rank comics get a huge amount of hits and then it falls off.
Also, another factor to consider is that a lot of the comics in the 14K number don't update anymore so they're not really in competition with those that do.
