So if you had to pick from any animated girl at all as the single sexiest, which one would it be?
(Remember, if we had real girlfriends, then we wouldn't waste time worrying about stuff like this!)

Wilma Flintsone.
LISTER: Cat?
CAT: Mmm?
LISTER: Ya ever see the Flintstones?
CAT: Sure!
LISTER: D'ya think Wilma's sexy?
CAT: Wilma Flintstone?
LISTER: Maybe we've been alone in deep space too long, but every time I see that body, it drives me crazy. Is it me?
CAT: Well, I think in all probability, Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman that ever lived.
LISTER: That's good. I thought I was goin' strange.
CAT: She's incredible!
LISTER: What d'ya think of Betty?
CAT: Betty Rubble? (Pause) Well, I would go with Betty... but I'd be thinking of Wilma.
LISTER: This is crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
CAT: You're right. We're nuts. This is an insane conversation.
LISTER: She'll never leave Fred, and we know it.

Grenadier is the single best premise for an anime series EVER! Take a Pamela Anderson clone, make her into a gunslinger that could kick Vash The Stampede's ass, and drop her in feudal Japan. BRILLIANT!

jalfordThat's hinted at as a sort of a red herring I think. She seems to have always been intended to be a woman. In one of the episodes of SAC (don't know if it's 1st or 2nd Gig) it flashes back to this thing about when she was a little girl with some kind of severe physical disability, or perhaps she had an accident or something...? It's all about her relationship with some poor boy with a similar condition, having the opp to change bodies in the early days of the prosthetic robotics.
Provided she wasn't really a guy in her original body!

Even the manga hinted she might have been a guy, as well as the movies.

Yes, the manga was good, as were the movies. But you know how artists are... Always wanting to lead the audience on ^_^
I think the point is to keep you guessing and keep you intrigued rather than nailing down her origins to something concrete. Even the flashback episode makes sure to stay a bit indistinct. I mean, they could always go back and say, "oh yes, she was actually remembering someone else's childhood" or "Ah, she was actually the boy in that memory!"
That's the nature of fictional characters after all eh?
It's part of the fun.
The other thing with GITS is of course the importance of consciousness and minds, and the meaninglessness of a physical body in defining someone's existence, (In that world), so keeping you of balance with Motoko just helps to further that theme along.
Although given what I've seen so far, what she is, and the aforementioned episode, I'd say she was born femme. But that doesn't really matter eh? :)

Not that I would read it, but would it only be fair to have a "Hunkiest Animated Guy" thread. Word on the street females have started using the Internet as well.
I'M NOT GAY.
So go make one. We won't judge you.

We're not homophobic. We just don't want anyone confusing us with being gay. (Just to make the point clear about that).

You must be one of those guys that doesn't understand that the fastest way to get a woman interested is to get her to think that you're gay.

You really need to stop thinking that you're actually a vampire.
