Some people have already mentioned Disney cartoons (like Darkwing Duck), but what about the father of Disney duck's himself, Carl Barks? His duck stories contain some great, timeless reads (and some less great ones). And the work of the Barksian-inspired Don Rosa is very good as well, and quite popular in Europe even today - Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge enjoy quite a bit of poularity in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy etc.

I see Donald Duck comic volumes every summer when I go to Norway. I can't read them though.

ozoneoceanmechanical_lullabyYes, but not much fiction is really based around the lives of animal anaimals or even animal humans. though it does exist.
Humans are animals too.
Generally it's about human characters, no matter what shape they have. (be it human humans, robots with human personalities, Cat humans, Herbi the love bug etc.)
SO just play a good game of basketball, ok? Go for it kiddos!
Ooh, now that's an interesting genre, humans acting like animals. Or maybe they can be the anthro's pets.

Css you aint missing out on anything.
That depends on what the volumes are collections of/who they are written by.. I know you said before that you stopped reading them when you were 10, but that doesn't mean that stories by the creators I mentioned can't be apprecieted by people who are older and more mature. Good storytelling is good storytelling, regardless of the percieved age limitations or the intended audience.

I'm not really a fan of the anthro genre. Especially not furry porn, which is just ick-tastic.
However, Digger is an anthro strip. It won Best Black and White Art in the Web Comics Choice Awards last year. I agree that the problem a lot of people have with furry comics is that they seem to exist as some sort of bizarre "I wish I had cat ears/had sex with people that have cat ears" fantasy.
That having been said, I kind of wish I could fly. And that I was invulnerable. And could hit people without being arrested.
I don't think that the "talking humans are more real" argument flies, in the context of comics.
And yeah, the best way to redeem the anthro genre is to write good anthro comics. I'm glad Sandy's giving it a go.

IMO, the bad points about anthro comics which gives the entire genre a bad name:
I think #1 is the biggest problem. Disney anthros are fine because there is no mature human issues and relationships, so no chance for stuff like love/sex to pop up where readers would go "Eww." I think the problem lies with children who love anthros, who grow up to want to draw comics with mature themes, but then want to use anthros in them.
that's if you don't count the various short 'toons about Donald duck bombing on a date with Daisy duck, or those 3 pesky young ducklings being a pest whenever Donald duck is trying to make a good impression with Daisy duck.
those might be comedic, but it's still all about Donald duck trying to get some love from Daisy (whenever it might be just simply a peck on the cheek on the first date or getting more in the relationship as girlfriend and boyfriend).
there's more with Mickey Mouse with Minne mouse, and so on.
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

interesting note: Werewolves arent technically anthromorphic.
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.
Also, tell random people they are awsome! it helps!

MimarinInteresting note: I already noted it. :P
interesting note: Werewolves arent technically anthromorphic.
And they were and are completely anthro in the original socio-mythological, real world environment that they came from: the actions of actual animals were ascribed to magically transformed humans taking the shape of those animals. –So the actions of the (real) animal were anthropomorphised into those of a human, even though it was still actually just an animal.
The belief is strong in backward rural communities were superstitions are “realâ€. Animals are still killed in places in Africa and India because they are believed to be humans in animal form- and if someone happens to be hanging around were they lost sight of the animal, they kill him instead because he or she obviously transformed back…

Wether or not it is an anthromorph depends on if it is an animal with human characterisitcs or human with animal characterisitcs, not knowing what the crap is going on with that hideous monster i would say yes it is an anthromorph.
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.
