....What kind of a f**ked up system do we live in these days???? huh!?

If you notice, the kid goes to a magnet school [en.wikipedia.org], which I thought was interesting.

One of my old schools stopped selling Skittles at the student store, because the children would smash them, roll them up, and fling them at other students.

Strangely, they still sold M&M's, which could also be thrown at other students; just without the smashing.

That's

bizarre?

I want to know why he got in trouble? What's bad about candy?

But I don't think-I hope it's not-a magnet school thing, because I went to one (Governor's school of arts, SC) and there were never any candy fiascoes.

I'm not exactly sure I understand why he got in trouble. The school board decided they couldn't have candy at school or something? Even if that's the case, taking away that kid's honors dinner, and giving him a three day suspension and so on all seems like way too much to me.
That's about the same amount of punishment a bunch of students got for having pot last year at my school, and I really don't think those are on the same level.

I know a friend of mine got sent to an Alternative Education Program for about 3 months, since he was caught drunk on campus, and was found holding two bottles of liquor in his locker... but that seems about the just right punishment for that... but suspension over skittles is just wrong.

Detention would be annoying enough for bringing candy (or some other food) to school.....but suspension?! What, does Skittles make you go on an acid trip now?

Apparently candy equals drugs in schools now.

That was a horribly done newspiece. They didn't even say WHY candy is banned at this particular school.
