Do you ever start drawing something by hand... y'know... on that paper stuff... and you mess up a little bit and then stare at the page screaming "COMMAND Z! COMMAND Z!" in your head (or CONTROL Z for windows users).
I do.
maybe i'm just weird.

Sometimes when I'm drawing on the computer for a long time I'll reach out and touch the screen as if to draw on it. Fingering.
I hardly do that now though.

I have "undo" set to one of the buttons on my tablet pen. Unfortunately, when drawing traditionally, I like to use mechanical pens that have buttons on them in the exact same place that give more lead. I'm sure you see where this is going. :P
I much prefer digital... I just have to have things like the undo function, layers, and all that good stuff.

I like to keep my tablet in my lap while I'm drawing. Imagine my suprise when one day I start using my tablet pen on my sketchbook which was sitting in my lap.

I often consider restarting the last few minutes to prevent them from happening. Like if I commit a godawful faux pas, I have this brief, powerful urge to reset, which only intensifies the regret of making a mistake in the first place. It's like hiring someone to yell "THERE IS NO GOING BACK NOW" every time I screw up.

subcultured
my pencil has an undo feature.
eraser.
Sub beat me to it.
I just end up dragging my finger across the tablet like it's the mouse pad on my laptop. I'm the opposite of digital artists.

I have this more with text, actually. I'll be looking at an essay with tons of words, trying to find the sentence I want...and I keep shouting "CTRL + F!" in my head. :(

Tacster002Yep... :(And you can't highlight or copy and paste interesting text in a novel either. It's such a PAIN!

Erasers never have worked well for me. I can always still see my mistakes. >:(
When I work with traditional media I want to reach to the right (where my undo button is on my Cintiq) and press it.
When I work digitally I find myself trying to brush eraser dust off the screen when I use the eraser on the stylus sometimes.

Ha Ha, yeah.
I almost never use paper and pencil anymore, but in my cartoon classes I draw on whiteboards and am so used to erasing small overdraws with a finger that I often find myself trying to do the same on my Cintiq.

Guilty as charged. I make tons of errors too, making my written works eraser-dust strewn abominations. Ergo, I use WoW model viewer n' photoshop.
Additionally, when watching movies/TV, if the merry protagonists encounter a dangerous situation, I often catch myself thinking, "Oh, damn, they'd better save."

I was inking in art class yesterday... went to sit back for a breather and caught myself reaching for the "save" button o_O
Didn't want my paper/pen picture to crash on me after all.

Pretty interesting wide range of responses!
Cool.
I sit at a computer all day, though... key commands are my best friend.

i'll be painting, and i'll stick to using a brush for too long
eventually I forget that I need to grab a different brush to make a different effect, so I'll spend some time trying to pull it off, and then realize it isn't photoshop where I'm really good with one brush for everything.

I want a ctrl+z button IRL not just for drawing but for committing mistakes in life as well. Like buying a carbonara instead of a macaroni. NOOOOOOOO My wasted munneh?!

Alas... I do find myself reaching for control-z while drawing by hand occasionally. It's not there! I've also tried to use normal pens on my tablet. Uhm. Those don't work either.
I've never tried to save my work by hand, though. It's a habit for me to scan it in at certain points if I fear losing it, and that's as close to 'saving' my real work as I can get. Especially if I'm going to ink it, I scan my pencils, and if I'm going to paint it, I'll scan my inks.

Eraser. If it's that bad, crumble up and throw into the white paper recycling bin and start again.
Digitally I have a tendency to run out of Control-Z's. :)

MetruisI used to do that! I started off by photographing my paintings and drawings at certain stages, then when I got a scanner I started scanning them at stages instead. :)

for the rare occasion that I use paper to sketch out (usually fan art or guest strips) what I'm doing, I tried using the wacom pen to draw on paper... or I waited for the computer to start, and opened the program that I use to draw with... then started drawing with pencil and paper...
