Yesterday I FINALLY got my hands on a copy of the new Hellboy/B.P.R.D. spin-off, Lobster Johnson #1. All I can say is: ABOUT FREAKING TIME! The Lobster's been popping in and out of Hellboy and B.P.R.D. for years now, and he's FINALLY got his own (albeit limited) series! I'm restraining myself from posting anything too spoilery, but seriously. Go read it! Mike Mignola's writing is amazing as always, and Jason Armstrong's art really has a cool "pulp" feel to it. The story is wonderfully quirky(would we want a Mignola story any other way?), and gives us a more in-depth look into Mignola's Nazi-smashing pulp-hero.

Cover and Synopsis

Pull your noses out of all that crappy manga and read something GOOD!

I really need to get into Hellboy related stuff more, I've read some of it, but not nearly enough. I loved the first of doom or hand of doom one and I read some of the bprd stuff, this looks like a good mini.

I'll check it out.

I've tried and tried to get into Hellboy because I love Mignola's art and I think the concept is cool, but the writing just... it just doesn't grab me. I don't know. There's probably something very seriously wrong with me.

I'm planning to hit the comic shop at some point in the next couple of days and Lobster Johnson is high on my list of things to pick up.

He's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm a very strange person, so Mignola's stuff speaks to me on a very fundamental level. I know a lot of people who just can't get into it.

Now, if only Allred would get off his duff and get Madman #3 out!
